I'm interning for 4kids FOR NINJA TURTLES

What a rush! Boy've I been wanting to tell you guys that!

I just finished my second day of interning for the Ninja Turtles cartoon! It's a lot of fun, lemme tell you. I've been cleaning up backgrounds for some episodes toward the end of next season, I think (?).

I'm a little outta the loop-- I missed this past season of the show since I have no TV. Anyway, it's pretty freakin' sweet, working for the turtles. My friend says I might as well kill myself now, since I've basically peaked.

I'm not giving out any spoilers, by the way (I am aware of very few, anyway).

Hey, that's some frigging good news - congratz, dude! :)

iris 05-13-2006 08:44 AM

Hey, that's neat! So is your title just "Intern" or do you have like a specific department?

(Nice avatar, dude. :))

Space Lieutenant Josh 05-13-2006 12:17 PM

Yeah, my title's "intern"... so far I've mostly done background clean-up, but I've also done Rob Schneider's favorite activity: makin' copies of x-sheets and storyboards.

That is just SO cool! And you are SOOOOOO incredibly lucky, my friend!

Heh, I think I'm just a TEENSY bit jealous here (j/k)! Anyway, I hope that it'll be where you CAN show is some series-related sneak-peekstuff one of these days. THAT's be awesome! But DON'T risk your job TO do that, though.

Peace.

That would be a VERY bad idea for an intern. If your internship goes poorly, or if you cause trouble, you'll lose valuable recommendations that you would have had for future jobs. Josh, I wouldn't risk it if I were you. Congrats though and enjoy!

Space Lieutenant Josh 05-13-2006 03:13 PM

Wasn't planning on it. I'm too happy with it to even think about risking it.

You make it sound like classified information that would change the world if it were leaked to the public.

Space Lieutenant Josh 05-13-2006 05:09 PM

Maybe it is! Who knows, right?

The key to world peace could lie in the next few seasons of the show. Maybe I should catch up on the last season since I didn't see it-- that'd at least make understanding world peace a little easier.

I think it was a good decision, Josh. Stick to it.

I dunno... there are pretty much no loose lips on this ship, from what I've seen.

Wait... what does Rob Schneider have to do with storyboards?

Y'know, Rob Schneider was in that skit on SNL, "The Richmeister" where he'd always say stuff like "Makin' copies!"

An X-Sheet is a gridsheet in animation that's used to time out the animations, frame by frame. It's very useful for dialogue and multilayer stuff especially.

Turtle-in-the-Shell, I honestly know very little of what happens plotwise, I just sit at a computer and do cleanup all day. I don't even know what's going on in the show right now, it's been so long since I've had a TV of my own.

Right now I just want to kill you and take your job.

Congrats, you lucky son of a bitch.

cowabunga14 05-13-2006 08:38 PM

Congrats to you, Josh. You're a very lucky guy and I hope you're having fun with your job. Hopefully it'll give you some skills you can use in the future.

OMG that's so cool! I would <3 to do any kind of work for the TMNT crew! Hey, I'm graduating from high school next wednesday, would you suggest going into any graphics design courses in college?

Space Lieutenant Josh 05-20-2006 12:05 AM

I'm no expert, myself. What kind of work do you want to go into? A graphic design or life drawing course would both be good starts for this type of thing, I guess.

I've been asking myself that same question like everyday this year :( . Heh, I duno, I'm just hoping that the right career finds me because if I look too hard I might miss out on a great opportunity.

TheShowstoppa 05-20-2006 10:02 AM

Truth be told slkblaze, it all just depends on what you're highly interested in doing. My career path changed 6 or 7 times and I didn't even know what I wanted to be up until the end of my senior year. Now I know for sure: Public Relations/Marketing/Distribution. I want to be a publicist. Why? Because it's something fun that I could do because I love writing and I love critiquing bands or actors I love or hate. Puts me in a sticky situation if I can't get my head straight on a client though...

Drtooth 05-31-2006 01:02 PM

I've been thinking about trying to get intern work at a cartoon studio, since I'm an unemployed animator who graduated 2 years ago. I still need 2 things A) a computer and B) a way of copywriting my work and sending out demo reels.
