Ninja skills

This was a doodle I did at the laundromat a couple days ago; our dryer was broken. And it turned out unexpectedly cool, so I thought I'd post it. Too bad the scanner didn't pick up a lot of the shading.

I'm considering making a wallpaper out of this; I need a new one.

Ooh! Fantastic drawing, Masked Ninja! I love it! :D
The form and pose for both Leo and the Foot ninja are excellent. The line art is gorgeous, and the shading is very nice.
I also like how you drew Leo's tail. It's cute. ^_^

Oh, and the style is lovely. It's a nice mix between the "Mirage" look and the new series look. :)

Sliced 06-25-2006 09:34 AM

Hey that's great. The shading is excellent. As well as all the rest :P

But I just prefer tmnt without the tails. It looks ridiculous with them me thinks. Its just useless... and, although its not the case here, you can mistake them for poop and genitals. But yeah it does keep the mirage look intact.

Garou 06-25-2006 10:25 AM

WOW! I love this one. And I think the tail is really nicely done, for as Sliced says, they often tend to look like something else

Masked Ninja 06-25-2006 10:36 PM

I know about the awkward nature of the Mirage tails, and I agree, Sliced... but of course that's why I draw the tails as obviously tail-like as possible. Coming to a point at the end an' all. ;) I like 'em equally with and without, I think.

I did the colored wallpaper version today, and have it posted here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/35352051/

Sorry for those of you who hate deviantart. :tanime:

Oh man, that looks awesome! Can't help imagining a little story to go with it.

And tails... yes, they're useless, but some people think they look weird with 'em, and I think they look weird without 'em!

Love the style, Mask, as usual! Finally, I have new wallpaper! :D

*claps*

Oh! it's wonderful, MN!!! A little slice of action frozen in time. *saves* :D

Indeed, that foot soldier is about to get Sliced

The colors are awsome. The only thing missing now is a bit of a background, just to complete the pic. 9/10 Unless you want to leave it like that of course.

You should do a wallpaper like that every week !

Mecha Cow 06-26-2006 11:03 AM

Very nice shading, great work.

Raven 06-26-2006 03:19 PM

sweet! I've been looking for a new background!

MN this is beyond amazing, truly great work!

Sewer Bull 06-26-2006 03:27 PM

Ghar! Wonderful! So dynamic! I love the shading. And that colored version kicks ass.

*melts*

And the tail is perfect to me.

You definitely should draw a short, one or two-paged story, Masked Ninja. All your panels would explode with a vibrant dynamism.

Ryona 06-26-2006 03:48 PM

That is bloody sweet! The coloring job is excellent, and I really like the shiney, metalic look of the blades.
I especially like that you gave Leo a real subdued, blue color. It's leaning towards charcoal grey, which I like.
I would suggest though to have Leo's skin tone more dull. It looks a little too vibrant.

Thanks, guys. I have considered trying a comic book kinda thing (just a few pages) to see what happens. Just need a good idea, I guess.

I was worried that might happen, with the brightness. When I go about my rounds on a different compy than I usually use, I've come across pictures I've done that look much more saturated than they do when I make them. Could be the tilt of my LCD screen; more likely I need to find a way to up the saturation a bit on the screen. *shrug* Thanks for mentioning it.

At least I finally fixed my screen resolution so my widescreen doesn't mess with the width of pictures I try to do. ;)

Buslady 06-27-2006 09:05 AM

Oh my god freaking sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is your style, you need to do more just like this...the shading is gorgeous, the action is just great...MORE!!!

If you do a spiffy Raph I'll feature it on my homepage. I need new Raph stuff to feature on there! Come to think of it, I might make a advert for that...

Tails aren't really useless, it reminds you they're not completely human, they are still animal that way, but human inside. And well ya'll know how I feel about tails, that tail was done right, tapered, not too obnoxious and you can't mistake that for a wang or a dooie, its not even shaped like that! Turtles have tails, plain & simple and they look funny with out them.
