I was initially kinda loath to make a post about something as trivial as my departure, but I figured as there was really f*ck all else going on, I might as well.

I'm headin' out, kiddos. These past three years have been a blast, but my heart just isn't in it these days. That's to say nothing of my mind. I think everyone hits a point where the spark of life just seems to have fizzled out completely. Unfortunately, I've hit that point. It's sabbatical time.

So to everyone, thanks for bein' cool. This place over the years has brought me gutloads of laughs. If anyone wants to get a hold of me or keep in touch, the normal channels are still operational.

I'll greatly miss your high level of intelligence, DH. Please don't hesitate to message me sometime. We'll chat it up about the days of old. Take care of yourself, and we'll all miss you.

ThirdMarioBro 07-01-2006 01:15 PM

Nooooooooo! You can't leave DH. :( This sucks.

Mecha Cow 07-01-2006 01:26 PM

I've enjoyed your intelligent and humorous posts, hope you'll be back someday. Take care.

Raven 07-01-2006 01:32 PM

I will greatly miss your insightful and witty posts, I hope you come back some day.

Sewer Bull 07-01-2006 02:08 PM

I hate you. You stole my heart, hid it in your boudoir and now you're leaving like nothing happened. Does my love mean nothing to you now? You're like my personal English teacher in this cruel world.

The Drome without you ain't the same.

But don't sweat it, bitch - I Will Survive.

*dances like a maniac*

On a sidenote - I saw plenty of farewell letters like this one. Usually, people who wrote them went on posting later like nothing happened. So, they were kind of attention-seeking manifestos.

Or they came back after a short period of time. Let's hope DH's absence is going to be just temporal, not permanent.

Kid Icarus 07-01-2006 02:49 PM

They (we? lol) ALWAYS come back. Always.

XERO 07-01-2006 03:09 PM

It's gonna be weird not seeing you here, but I wish you the best, DH.

See you around on YIM, hopefully.:)

Dr. Doom 07-01-2006 03:24 PM

I'll miss the beatings the most...

Yanno, I can't say I'm suprised, just based on how much drama and chaos is surrounding this place lately. If we continue down the path of flaming left and right and having an elitist attitude, this may happen with more people. I can honestly say DH is one of our most beloved members, and now she's heading out indefinately. I can't say that her reasons were really what I stated, that's her job. But If we keep all this negativity up, we more lose more people we care about. Everyone came here to have fun and enjoy themselves. To have it now as a situation where you think "I can't wait to get home and log on to see what that douchebag so and so said in response to my flame", that's not a very good situation to be in. And this goes for everyone. Mods are not excluded. In fact, several mods seem to be suspect more than others, and that does not set a very good example (to whom it may concern, you know who you are: you don't have to be a dick to get people to listen to you).

True, there are people here who deserve to be flamed, and my distaste for certain members has been public knowledge in the some 3 years I've been here... and sure, we can't put a stop to everything. There will be anger, negativity, all that nasty stuff WHEREVER you go...but let's try our best to not have the Drome be a place where that is the standard. Just try and think before you post. Have some sympathy/empathy. Be stingy with your scathing comments and only let them out when they're really needed. That sort of thing. Just because someone says something you don't like doesn't mean you have to speak out in public.

That's what talking behind someone's back is for. You get your anger out, avoid the drama of confrontation, and everyone is happy. ^______^

OA 07-01-2006 03:43 PM

very well said Doom...couldn't agree with you more...

Ecto Jedi 07-01-2006 03:49 PM

Darn, no more damnhooligan around to pester about creating banners and images for my site...

'Gonna miss you, bro. I always enjoyed your posts and I very much appreciated the time you spent making me sigs/banners/etc. for Retro-Playback. Hope to see hear from you again sometime... :(

Peanut 07-01-2006 04:58 PM

Well that sucks. See you around DH. We all had some good times in the past, sucks that it's all over. Take care of yourself.

Ryona 07-01-2006 05:45 PM

Another one bites the dust.

It is going to be weird without you here. Like everyone else, I always enjoyed your smart, tasteful, witty posts.

You are the damnedest of hooligans and one of a kind. I solute you.

I wish you safe voyages through the murky waters of cyberspace, and may you never be threatened by bees.

I don't really drink this stuff but... *takes a swig of alcohol in honor of Damnhooligan*

I can honestly say that that is the reason that I don't post as much as I used to. In fact, that's the reason my girlfriend never posts here... She signed up, read a few posts and left because of how mean everyone can be here. She didn't want to deal with it.

I dare to differ. The Drome is one of the friendliest internet communities I ever joined. Really. The people on my other boards can be WAAAY more mean.

GK Punk 07-01-2006 06:59 PM

It can be, but there are some people who are just hostile.

XERO 07-01-2006 09:13 PM

The good members outweigh the bad. But yet, they're all leaving or are thinking about it.

How about we try to stick together and help run this place like it needs to be ran?

Honestly, I don't know why DH left, and I have a feeling that if I ask her, she won't explain the whole story. So, I can only support her decisions.

In the meantime, we should all just dump the negative garbage back to Trashville, and remember the reasons why this place was created in the first place.

Yeah. Free love, baby! ;) *flashes the peace sign* :D

...Really though, ya know I loves ya, DH. I hope things get better for you, and you feel better... And I'll certainly keep in touch. Peace, dear. *hugs* ;) :)

The Lone Turtle 07-02-2006 02:34 AM

Sad to see you go DH. The Drome won't be the same without you

Masked Ninja 07-02-2006 02:42 AM

Somehow I get the vibe that the average IQ level just went down several points upon this departure. :(

I haven't been here too long, but I have enjoyed the intelligent hilariousness in your posts, DH. Hopefully the sabbatical is temporary. *salutes*
