The Future of TMNT.
Hey guys! I'm new to these boards, but I sure as heck aint new to TMNT. I was thinking, I haven't seen FF yet because I missed the last 3 eps, but I'm downloading them and can watch em tommorow, but I was thinking... if you're a fan of TMNT, we've had 102 great episodes before FF... my thought is, we watched the show and loved it for all of those episodes, so what if they have a few bad ones? We should still continue to watch it and support it for the hope of newer and better episodes... I'm just saying, if you've supported a show for this long, why give up on it when it suddenly has some episodes you don't like? Am I the only one that feels this way?
|
Wait until you see how bad FF is. It's pretty corny when you get Raph spouting "It's ninja time!"
|
welcome 007 :)
I think it's not that people are unwilling to support the franchise...all the bad feelings you keep seeing rehashed all around are because of the abrupt change in format. Those that liked the new toon were shocked that they would change something that seemed so nice...IMHO |
Thanks for the welcome... as for seeing how it looks, I'll just have to wait and see. I'll still continue to watch it, though. Does anyone know why they made this sudden change?

ratings.
The ratings on the show were slipping...they wanted to try and target the younger crowd |
I see... is it still the same animators and what have you working on it? Or is it a new group? I honestly can't see why ratings were slipping, I enjoyed it a lot. And I don't think the answer is to target either young people (5-10) or teens to adults specifically... I think they need to go somewhere in between, but that's just my oppinion.
|
it's the same group....they just have different censors/network folks giving them guidance.
I thought it was great too....just....probably over teh kids heads, which is why the ratings were slipping. Gotta make those dollars in the end, after all. |

Feel free to support it you wish, agent 007, but I personally can't do it. The FF concept alone is enough to turn me off, so it'd take a literal miracle for the show's writers to impress me. With that rather large strike against it, I don't have the faith or time to wait around any longer than I already have in hopes that the show might improve. Furthermore, it's just not really the Turtles to me, so that seals it for me. |
And is sending the Turtles to the future the only way they could think of to get better ratings?? Couldn't they have stayed in the present but still be more kid-friendly. It's ironic that sending TMNT to the future might have been the thing that actually made sure there would be no future for the series. And it's a shame, with the movie coming out and all.
|
Let me just smack a little dose of realism into you. The fans don't matter, the target audience does. The target audience hav'nt been watching this show at all, it's been a combination of toy sales, Pete's own back pocket, and 4Kids' paitence that have seen the last four seasons reach the heights it has had with those who see it for what it is, but now 4Kids are recognising the problem and are making it worse.
And yeah, I'd rather not support it, I don't support formats that betray the core concepts of what this version was supposed to be. |

...And when you're failing to reach your target audience--all while alienating your existing fanbase while you attempt to pull that coveted target audience in--your show is certainly doomed. That's just how the business works. In the end, fans and everything else don't matter. It all comes down to ratings and money. I think most of us see the writing on the wall: this is probably the TMNT's last season in this incarnation. The 2K3 Toon TMNT chapter is coming to an close.

I'd say the future of TMNT is pretty sound, regardless of whether FF gets cancelled. We've got the movie to look forward to. The fans should be promoting that.
|
and we are promoting that. :)
|
I doubt that the TMNT property as a whole is anything to worry about at this point. If the show gets cancelled, no big deal. In fact, it's probably for the best. The property will likely endure in one form or another, and we'll see other versions of the Turtles in the future. Just as has been the case with Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, etc., etc..
|
your right, we prob will.

It seems to me that people are mainly here because they like TMNT. So that's positive enough for me. People are gonna complain when things don't go the way they hope... whatcha gonna do? *shrug* |
If the Turtles get canned, I'll be out of a job.:P
And we'd probably have to wait another 6 years for another series.:ohwell: |
