TMNT 1 Special Edition Petition

Hey guys,

I remember reading some posts a while ago about the prospect of a Special Edition DVD of the first Ninja Turtles movie, so when I stumbled across this while surfing the IMDB boards, I thought I'd bring it to your attention. I don't know if a similar petition has been made before, or if this has already been brought to your attention, but I think it's a great idea.

TMNT was a fantastic film, and I believe a Special Edition would sell incredibly well in light of the upcoming film, and both Peter Laird and Steven Barron have expressed interest in the project. Let's start signing this sucker and hope for the best!

Been brought up sooooooo many times. We would all love a SE of the first movie.

I've signed another TMNT Special edition petition years ago.

I have an inkling that they MIGHT release a special edition in time for the new movie... if anything else for a "free ticket" promotion or a behind the scenes look at the new film feature.

But then, of course, it all depends on what surviving footage there is. This movie wasn't made a couple years ago when they considered the DVD before the film even came out. That's why shizznit like Cat in the Hat has 3 hours of bonus footage, and some films have just the movie...not even a trailer.

Still, couldn't hurt, could it?

They already did one in the UK. It's remasted and everything looks amazing. Just wait for the HD-DVD I bet you'll get one there.

It may be as well be remasterd and look amazing but that doesn't fully qualify as a 'Special Edition'. Sure, the UK got back added scenes but the US already had those. Again for the HD-DVD , it will just be the bare bones version but with better quality. I think we're all talking about a real special edition with deleted scenes, commentary, and much more other stuff. There was a letter campaign going on that I read about on the TMNT website and it was on Buslady's Forum. I, too wrote a letter and one of the writers actually got a reply. Here's the link: http://buslady.s1.bizhat.com/buslady-ftopic128.html. Enjoy.

Does any of these petitions ever really work?

I don't recall any getting back anything. Maybe family guy but that was due largely to high late night ratings and dvd sales. I would love to see a special edition version, and I bet they will release some sort of a new version when the new movie does come out.

Actually... yes! Yes they do! Letter writing campaigns as well. Not all the time, mind you, but we did get Fraggle Rock season box sets and Sesame Workshop is releasing Classic Sesame Street DVD's. You never know what's gonna happen.

I still think we should wait until the new movie comes out to make a final judgement.
