The Legend Of Koji, Awesome Episode
 

So I've had the whole TMNT series on my PC for some time now and every now and then I watch random episodes that intrest me.

First I watched all of Red Sky*Which was pretty cool* Then I started watching randoms from all around the series, except ones that were on DVD already or are on the next release. Anyways I watched this episode the other day.

For one it has Shredder, and by that I mean James Avery is doing his voice not that other guy. Why I mentioned this is because the episode is in Season 7 and we all know he had left by then.

Anyways the episode is about Shredder going back to Japan to kill Koji which would prevent Splinter from ever being trainned and thus uncreate the TMNT. I don't really think I need to explain all of what happens. It reminded me a bit more of a new toon episode and less of a goofy old toon one. But by that point in the show it was starting to lose that goofy. The episode was a bit like "Tales Of Yoshi" and "Secret Origins Part 2" but that's not the reason I liked it.

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen, and likes this episode?

I saw it a long time ago on ABC in its first airing when I was younger. And you are right, this episode was pretty damn awsome. I don't rember everything in it, but i think there was a dragon featured in it. Season seven has the best crop of episodes and I wish it had lasted longer than only 14.

Season 7 had 27 episodes, but yeah. I havn't watched the whole season yet but so far it's pretty good.

And yeah there's a Dragon at the end. They use it's foot print as a symbol for the Foot Clan.

Season 7 was a fantastic season. Nearly every episode was great or excellent, and it was about the time the stories started getting a bit more mature and less goofy. Of course this continues to seasons 8-10 with the darker theme, but Season 7 was a great turning point.

But the 13 European Vacation episodes really belong to season 4 not season 7.

And, they aired in season six. Molly Bode said season seven (and probably every guide developed after took their cue from hers), but that just isn't so.

Yeah I remember really enjoying that episode.
The more mature aspect, plus the fight scenes and the same animators from the "Turtles on Trial" episode made it stand out.
The plot kinda reminded me of the third movie, although this was far better.

Yeah, I love that episode. Everything from the reference to Shibano Sama to the obvious similarities Mirage's Masks storyline. I remember it was that episode and "Night of the Dark Turtle" that really got me interested in the series again as my interest kinda waned during the fifth and sixth seasons. Infact thw whole seventh season is a step up in quality.

The only thing that bugs me is when the TMNT and Shredder come back through the time portal Shredder's clothes changes back to his modern armor.

Season seven was the sh*t! the story lines where a bit more urban based and the animation was so much better. Not only that, but if my memory serves most of the battles in this season occured at night, rather than in broad day light. Which I rather enjoyed.

Does any one find it intersting that in this episode Shredder's ancestor was depicted as a samurai. Samurai are supposed to be honarable but Shredder's ancestor was just as egotistical and as an opertunist as Shredder is.

Who the F is Koji?

He's the guy who took over the Foot Clan and because of him Splinter and all them came around. Only in the old toon though I believe.

wasn't it revealed in this episode that the foot clan was started in 1588? I'm not up on my japanses history but isn't that when Oda Nobonaga was killed. He was supposed to be famous for uniting Japan under the shogun again or something.

hey question. I just rewatched Blast From the Past and in it it states the the foot clan was founded by some guy named Sama--er something. My question is in this episode did they stay true to continuity or did they change it around to make Koji the founder of Foot Clan?

Answers were right there, under your nose. We all get absent-minded once in a while. :) The classic show certainly wasn't known for continuity, but the CBS eps were pretty decent at it.

Just watching this episode, I decided to search for this topic and maybe make it a part of our Classic Episodes series here in this forum. lol!

I liked the reference to Shibano Sama and the sword found in his shrine was the Kashima sword, likely belonged to the brothers whose holograms were used in the My Brother, The Bad Guy from season 5. So any relation there as well?

I liked that this episode did make an attempt to tie previous information together instead of making things up that don't flow with previous stuff (such as Shredder's mom being a villian in one episode but in another, apparently is a good guy according to Shredder's brother... or that was how I understood it).

Anyway, I noticed this for the first time in watching this again for the first time in a few years that this is the very first (and only?) episode without April appearing in it.

This is my second favorite (non-pilot season) episode of all time! [Turtle on Trial] being the first. It really is great, and I commend David Wise for giving us such a treat in the final season of the show's pre-Red Sky "classic style."

Yeah, that really jumped out at me too. A while back there was a forum discussion as to whether April appeared in every episode (however minor her role). This is the only one in my memory where she doesn't feature at all.

I'm a fan of Shredder being part Latino. Oroku Sancho was from Argentina, no?
