FF DVD news!

Ninja Tiptup 12-02-2006 11:20 AM

What the heck? They're doing a season set? A season set?!?!?!?

Well gee I might actually buy that for the few interesting episodes. Where as single volumes wouldn't have interested me.

They dang well better release Ninja Tribunal by Spring.

ZariusTwo 12-02-2006 11:24 AM

LOL, "Flash Forward"

Yeah, the final episode on the disc is "The Journal", yet FF is continuing the week after with a new episode...

Katie 12-02-2006 11:35 AM

hmmm...

I wonder if they are contuinuing the episodes so they can get fast forward done in one season instead of two 13 episode seasons.....maybe this is the final TMNT season for awhile.

ZariusTwo 12-02-2006 11:39 AM

If that's the case, then that would be the lastest case of misinformation between the creators and 4Kids. I have never seen a level of systematic communication breakdown for ANY series on this level since Sliders.

Ratchet 12-02-2006 11:41 AM

What do you mean Zarius?

ZariusTwo 12-02-2006 11:45 AM

For the past several months, it's become clear that 4Kids want something done their way, but don't see fit to listen to, and sometimes go ahead without, input from Laird or the series' producers, and have been throwing obstacle after obstacle in their direction. Must be a nightmare for Berger right now, he's had to deal with more changing of minds and scheduling than before on the website.

Ratchet 12-02-2006 11:49 AM

I don't think anything gets by either Murph or Laird though, considering Murph is in licensing and Pete still owns the property.

Nano 12-02-2006 01:14 PM

As far as this release goes, it's nice to see they're finally giving season sets, and for cheap too.

You'd be surprised.

Ratchet 12-02-2006 01:24 PM

Well, do you know of anything that has? I mean, not to start anything negative here, but out of interest - do you know of anything that has ? I suppose in terms of airing dates there'd be no real control over what and when things get shown, but a product like this would have to go through licensing - hence the sudden uproar about the LS coming to Australia (hehehe!)

Drtooth 12-05-2006 12:24 PM

Hello old news.

Anyway, I might as well reply to this post...

Exactly. I mean, the older DVD's probably had hard sales, considering they only put up to 5 episodes per disk. A season set would be cheaper and more attainable and approachable. I, myself, only have one 2k3 Disk (but 3 of the old school releases) because A) I was waiting for them to make season release of past seasons and B ) there were too damn many of them to collect.

This and the last season 4 disk set may rejuvenate the interrest in seeing them on DVD to perhaps make more season sets regaurding past seasons. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be great to see them all in 13-26 episode sets.

Leonardo_Warrior_Turtle 12-05-2006 02:11 PM

Why the hell couldn't they do that before? I would give my left nut for complete season sets of the first four seasons. But what do we get instead? Single DVD release of episodes. Most of the time not in order with the season! 4kids cares more about Fast Forward than they ever did about the first four seasons.

I always liked Sliders but never caught it after Fox cancelled it. Didn't it make it's way to the some other channel?

I think sci-fi and yea it was an awsome show!

DrSpengler 12-05-2006 05:40 PM

I'll buy this since I haven't watched *any* of Fast Forward at all.

I know, I know. It's the "Goliath Chronicles" of the TMNT, but I'm a completionist.

gobo 12-05-2006 07:42 PM

MARKETERS: The DVDs would have sold better if they were season sets. With as many epic storylines as the series had, people didn't want to commit to collecting all 25 volumes. It's barely affordable for the die-hard fans and it's hardly affordable for the passive audience.

4KIDS: If season sets will sell better, we'll try that idea on our upcoming FLASH FORWARD releases. If sales don't pick up, we'll go back to doing compilations.

MARKETERS: But, uh... :sweatdro: .oO(If I tell them what the die-hards think of FAST FORWARD, the show will be cancelled. WHAT DO I DO??)

Anyone imagine something like this might have happened? I mean besides me.

Yeah, it got renewed for two more seasons, but it went through a lot more cast changes, Wade was ditched, Jerry O'Connel's brother came into it one season, then both brothers left and they replaced Quinn with a "duplicate" that looked nothing like him stuck with his memories. By the time the series ended, Rembrant was the only regular left from the first three, and they ended the final episode on a bloody cliffhanger
