Do you wish?
Some characters for this movie are not yet fully confirmed or disproved...
With that said, Does anyone wish characters from the Classic toon like Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady would be featured? And on the good guys side... Anyone want to see Splinter, April O'Neil, Casey Jones,... maybe even Carter appear? In my opinion, I think it WOULD be cool to see these characters but actually even if they were just "cameos" or in short scenes in the movie, that would be rad! 8) |

Wait Splinter, Casey, and April? You make it sound like their old toon characters that weren't in every TMNT in carnation.
Those 3 are confirmed...then again they really couldn't do a TMNT movie without Splinter or at least mentioning him. |

...And bunker, yes... An excellent idea. ;) :P Splinter, well... They could do it without him, but seeing as I'm sure they won't kill him off with the kiddies around, they'd need an excellent reason for him to not be involved. That doesn't include wearing a lampshade for a hat, or watching any soap operas, that is. |

NOW, just a second people... For those of you who are 'viciously' opposed to the idea of Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady appearing in the CGI movie...
I'm guessing you don't like this idea because you think they will bring the class of the movie down some how. But remember... The second TMNT movie had two bit mutants and that worked while STILL maintaining a sense of seriousness and 'darkness' for those of you who need that. I think IF done right the presence of Krang a evil GENIUS and Bebop and Rocksteady and more sophisticated and less brain-less than they were in the Cartoons could work really well. It could still be an action filled movie with some a more or less serious theme, but with comic relief here and there, like we all come to love and respect (hopefully) from TMNT media. I'm not saying this is a perfect idea. But I am saying it would be cool to see Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady in some capacity in the movie. But I'm nostalgic like that. I don't know but many of you may be younger than me and only caught TMNT when it was the "new" TMNT cartoons so you may not have the appreciation for these characters the same way people from my generation did. Anyways... I appreciate those who made thoughtful comments to this thread. Thanks. :) |
You're getting ripped apart because you're obviously very much ignorant of the rights issues regarding those characters and the fact Pete is tolerant of the original series to a certain point.
I've probably nailed more birds than you have bees buddy, so drop the "you're all probably younger" line. We've all seen the original series, but those characters don't belong in Peter's version of what TMNT looks like, and if you were as much a fan of the franchise during the original series, you've probably seen the first movie, you know, the one based on the actual comics? Bebop and Rocksteady were going to be included in the second movie, Pete and Kevin fought against it and created Tokka and Razor, so no, there was never any real attempt on their part, even when the oppertunity was possible, to bring in those characters. |
I always did want to see a really well developed evil-master-mind Krang...very vicious and oozing XD
Otherwise... eh ;p nothing major. Little nods to the old show like the 2k3 show has done will be perfect... surprise me :D |

Not the mention the whole rights issues, those two and Krang are owned by Fred Wolfe Films, they're seperate from mirage, so don't count on them ever showing up again in any turtle media anytime soon. Also, I wan't to say to all the people like you, please stop thinking that the new toon or new movie will ever be like the old toon, time to move on. The old show was what it was, and the new toon and movie is how they are. |
Yea , the old toon is on dvd if you want to see bebop rocksteady and krang, theres hundred of those episodes on dvd.
|
Hey, Jo Dawn (: I'm with you on that! I NEVER liked Bebop and Rocksteady and I grew up with the old toon. Didn't much care for Shredder either. They all made me feel really patronized--especially when you could turn on X-men and get some villians that weren't whiney and bumbling. I didn't even have the comics for comparison...had never seen a comics store, I actually thought "comics" was an imaginary concept XD;;

pa·tron·ize /ˈpeɪtrəˌnaɪz, ˈpæ‑/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[pey-truh-nahyz, pa‑] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –verb (used with object), -ized, -iz·ing. 1. to give (a store, restaurant, hotel, etc.) one's regular patronage; trade with. 2. to behave in an offensively condescending manner toward: a professor who patonizes his students. 3. to act as a patron toward (an artist, institution, etc.); support. Okay so class what is wrong with the use of said word? And no there are no hundreds of episodes on DVD there are in fact not even 300 episodes in the entire series. |
Uh, yeah I graduated with a degree in English I know what patronized means and I know how to use it in a sentence.
Let me rephrase: writing characters as bumbling and stupid for cheap humor felt condescending to me when I was young. It felt like an offence to my intelligence to expect that kids don't appreciate or can't handle characters who aren't dumbed down. I don't see where your confusion is? |

And Zelda! Yes! Condescending is a PERFECT word to use there. That's the word I was looking for. Yeah, I just... didn't 'get' it, I guess. Was never much interested in the inept. |
