Tales of the TMNT 31
Just checked Midtowncomics.com and Tales 30 AND 31 will both be out on Wednesday!!
Here's what the official site says about Tales 31: “Reflections.” Years ago Casey Jones was plagued by horrible dreams of a monstrous alter ego. Thinking the nightmares have ended, he heads out for an evening on the town with April and Shadow. Little does he know that his fears are coming back... with a vengeance! |
OooO a double whammy! I really really hope so!!! Here's hoping this actully happens *fingers crossed*
(hehe and check you, ya sneak, making two threads for what is, essentially, the same thing!) |

All our Aussie shops got it... Brizuela's best work so far IMO! Different story to what I was expecting, in a good way though...

Can't have been, they all come through LA before they come here, so LA would've got them before us - AND our shipments were delayed.

I'll be sure to get this issue, tomorrow, for shizzure. |
I really enjoyed both issues. I've waited forever for another Mike writes a story issue and I loved the art, even if I still don't exactly get the ending. The Raph back up story was sweet too - April cradling a crying Raph, awwww!
I liked the Casey issue too. The character has come a long way from being the violent vigilante Raph met all those years ago. I like the way he has matured. Casey fans will want to read this one. |

This is how I see it: Spoiler:
As for issue 31, totally awesome! The artwork was excellent, kudos to Andres. I must admit I had my doubts about Casey's alter-ego coming to life, but the way it was dealt with was great, and unexpected (for me, at least). Plus, its probably got my favourite Tales cover ever, check it out, its just amazing!!!! |

Tookie, Time Mistress, glad that you liked the Casey issue! Thanks! I think that the script was very good, so kudos to Quinn, the writer. I liked as lot to draw this story.
A! |
my shop didn't get their new books in on time last week (ups brought them thursday), so i just got both issues today. haven't read them yet, the daredevil referance in #30 looks intriguing and the cover of #31 is awesome and a casey story sounds good right about now.
the flood of turtles comics begins now… |
I just read both of them. Issue 30's are was fantastic. I loved the art so much and the story was decent. It was made interesting by the original and very cool page layouts despite a pretty derivitive story.
31 was okay. I liked the art, didn't love it and I hated the alien comedian guy, it also ended ebruptly and poorly. We can all assume the mask/hat was controlling him but it could have been explained a lot better. The epilogue was just corny. So overall, 30 was great and 31 we ehh. Tales seems to be going back and forth from great to mediocre with just about every issue lately, definitely worth it for the jems like the tales of april issue from a few months back, though. |
No, I think it was more that he wasn't ready for what the Helmet would do to him. It allowed him to replicate whatever was going on the head of the 'victim' and he just couldn't handle the manifestation of such an aggressive thought chain

My problem with 31 was the continuity.
Well for one, alot lately April is drawn with blonde hair. When the hell did that happen? She's had black curly hair forever. Only Lawson seems to remember this anymore. Also, where are they living? When is it? It's obviously after the start of Volume 4 - the utroms are on Earth. Yet Raph is not a mutant yet, but they don't seem to be living in the city (when they leave, it looks like the farm) - yet they say the turtles are off in North Hampton, so they must not be at the farm. Else they'd say they are outside. So, continuity gripes aside, the story was okay. I really dug Casey fighting his brought-to-life-nightmare. The thought the alien guy was fairly stupid, boring, and corny (granted - alot of TMNT is corny though). The art was decent (cover was excellent). |
