What universe is this movie from?

Ok, so I was at work and noticed we had "Mikey's Night Watchman Scrapbook" for sale. Though I didn't buy it, I did thumb through it...and was shocked by this:

Mikey and Silver Sentry? Will he be in the movie?

this also threw me:

It's Raph and his Cycle, which looks a lot like the one from the show...wiggy.

Sorry for the picture quality...camera phone.

Are people still barking up this tree? It dosen’t HAVE to come from any particular continuity. All we need to know is the Shredder is out of the picture. Just sit back and enjoy it as a new version. No desprate need to link it to anything that's come before.

johnnyblaze 02-22-2007 09:18 PM

its just that in their continuity they also have a Silver Sentry and their Raph also has a bike like 2k3 Raph. The continuities are all seperate, although depending on the continuity they have certain things in common.

Jester 02-22-2007 09:26 PM

o...k...
I was just wondering. I mean the 1st movie was it's own universe and had elements of the OT in it, I guess the same (yet slightly diffrent) applies to the new movie and the new show.

Roseangelo 02-22-2007 11:00 PM

It's kinda in its own universe (because we need another one), which combines some elements from the movies and the 2K3 series.

Spoiler:
In the book there is a line about Utroms and Triceratons.

Spoiler:
But they were in the original comic anyway...

All of the different things don't really bother me. I think that it's just enough to *nod* at certain groups without going so totally overboard trying to please everyone that it messes it up.

Spoiler:
True, but if this is sorta in the movie universe, you can argue that we're not in the comic universe, because TMNT 2 took the Utroms out of the picture.

Yeah, I'll agree with that.

Spoiler:
Not neccesarily, they never explained where EXACTLY the TC/GRI came from, plus remember, Prof. Perry was originally intended to be an Utrom

Yeah, I know. But I don't personally consider TGRI to be the same as TCRI.

See that's the big reason why the pictures threw me. This is supposed to be loosely based on the continuity built by the original trilogy (I was gonna just say movies, but you've all seen the picture of the scepter.) It is because of this that I wondered. The 2k3 TMNT series, is a separate continuity, but I'm guessing that Munroe decided to pull from it like the writers and directors of the other 3 movies pulled elements from all the TMNT continuity to build those movies.

Aztec General 02-23-2007 10:24 AM

From what I understand the film takes place after the first film. For fun the movie will also reference other TMNT universes like the sequels, the comics, and the toons. But according the KM it's the first film that counts the most storyline wise.

Kendamu 02-23-2007 10:26 AM

It still could be based off of the original trilogy while having Silver Sentry in it. I mean, Leatherhead is in more than one universe... why not him?

Sanjuro 02-23-2007 11:01 AM

As far as this goes, just think of the entire TMNT universe having a giant orgy. Many 3rd party licensees will be throwing out whatever seems sales worthy in the coming month.

Kendamu 02-23-2007 12:05 PM

One giant orgy? So it's like Next Mutation except that it doesn't suck like NM did.

Indeed. Venus can sell plenty of tickets with that....."sexy" body of hers. Maxim cover confirmed?

Only if she's as anorexic as Karai...

Don't worry, I'm sure she went down that road after Next Mutation was cancelled, endlessly muttering to herself "Peter Laird doesn't like fat turtles, Peter Laird doesn't like fat turtles".

Raph's Girl 02-24-2007 07:17 PM

It's just simply another AU. Here's all the AU's for TMNT

Mirage vol 1,2, and 4 as well as Tales of the TMNT vol 1 and 2
Image: Vol 3

1990's Animated series - Which had 2 spin offs: Archie
(which is kinda part of the Marvel universe), and Next Mutation

The newspaper comic had elements of Mirage, Archie, and the 1990's series.

2K3 Series which has 2 spin-offs of sorts: Fast Forward and Dreamwave

Movies 1 -3

Movie 4 is an odd little univers of it's own. It has elements from the previous movies, the Mirage comics, and the 2K3 series.

As for Silver Sentry. Im not sure if he's ever been mentioned in the Mirage comics but the Justice Force is straight out of Volume 1 as is Nobody (he was killed off in Vol 2).

Raptarr was introduced in Volume 4 before he appeared in the 2K3 series. However the Battle Nexus was introduced in Vol 4 after it appeared on the 2K3 series.

Jester 02-24-2007 07:19 PM

I've always thought NT:TNM was a spin-off of sorts from the mopvie trilogy...

I remember e-mailing the official site about it when it was still on TV and I was told that it was a mixture of the movies and old toon.
