WonderCon Report

Some of the following could be considered spoilerish. You've been warned.

Spent the day at WonderCon today. WB had a panel that split the time between an upcoming Hilary Swank movie and TMNT. Kevin Munroe was there to present the TMNT portion and it was a basic little panel that involved the showing of some new footage (spliced together with stuff we've already seen a lot of) and a Q & A.

The footage we saw and edited together like another trailer. As Kevin noted, there were A LOT of quick edits. But we did see some neato new stuff.

My personal favorite bits were of Don doing IT tech support.

"Have you tried turning the computer on? Is it plugged in? Yes, that would help."

There was another bit of dialogue where someone on the phone was hitting on Don ("This isn't THAT kind of hotline.") and another bit where he calls the person on the phone sir, but then has to correct himself. "Ma'am?"

It's awesome.

We also got to hear the human voices! Casey, April, Karai, and Max Winters.

There was a clip of Casey confronting the Nightwatcher on a roof.

"You may have fooled the others, but not me."

"Is it that obvious?"

"You look like a giant metal turtle."

I really thought this was a good voice for Casey.

I forget what April's line was, but I also thought the voice worked well.

The line from Max Winters was from one of the pics in the leaked bunch, where we see Max, Splinter, and the Turtles (towards the end). His line was something about how he was looking at four giant turtles (in disbelief). Patrick Stewart is awesome. :D

Splinter had a couple good lines, but I can't remember the first one. The second one was, after kicking a monster's butt, "I still got it!"

There was a really brief shot of April in the jungle with Leo together with the line, "Your brothers need you." (So I guess that was one of April's lines, but there was at least one more.)

More clips of Mikey skateboarding, and the burp again.

Karai had a line, but I don't recall what it was.

And I think that's everything of signifigance that I can recall. We did end up getting to watch it twice, though, so that was cool.

In the QA there really wasn't much interesting asked when you consider that Kevin has been so kind to answer virtually ever question you can think of right here. The most interesting bits I came out with, although not particularly new news, was how he REALLY stressed that they feel they just squeaked by with a PG rating. The day they got their rating they were going over some scenes that while viewing them just really amazed them that they were looking at PG. He also stated that the Leo/Raph fight in the final product is EXACTLY how the fight was concieved from the beginning. Absolutely nothing was pulled from it or changed, so expect that to be very intense.

At the door to the ballroom they gave out the Sneak Peak "comic book" from San Diego last year. I love this book, but I think they should have reprinted it with the correct date (it still said March 30th). And down on the convention floor they gave out the solo posters that were also from San Diego last year (and they also still said March 30th).

In artists' alley I found a AWESOME TMNT print that I will have to share tomorrow. I'll stick it in my flickr account within a day. It's not a movie picture, but it's still way awesome.

And that was the TMNT part of the Con!

Schweetness! :D Thanks for the report.

How I wish I had the resources to start my convention-going this year or last. :( I just don't see me getting as excited about any other up and coming projects.

Do you think theres any chance we'll end up seeing some of that footage pop up online?

Kunoichi_Haruko 03-04-2007 05:21 AM

Thanks, Rosie!

Somebody tried to hit on Donny over the phone???!!!??? :o HAHAAHA, that's going to be a trip to see on the big screen! God, I can't wait for this film to come out.

Actually, I can expand on this further today, as I can remember both lines that were at this part.

"No, I'm not trying to play hard to get. This isn't THAT kind of hotline."

Nope, sorry. Video recording isn't allowed of video shown during panels.

Oh! I should add that this video featured some of the songs from the soundtrack! Including the now renamed Bebop v. Rocksteady song. Although I was more focused on the visuals to get a feeling either way about any of it. (And, as I've stated before, it's all TMNT music for me, so I'm going to love it all.) I think there was also a little piece of the Shell Shock song played.

Also, I know there's a thread around here somewhere where there has been discussion on Mike vs. Mikey and Don vs. Donny/Donnie. Well, one of the Don lines in the clip was, and I am paraphrasing here, "This is Donnie, your friendly neighborhood tech support." I don't recall if that is the exact line, but I know he answered the phone as Donnie.

.

Like thats stopped anybody before..but leaked footage is never worth watching...

Aignatius 03-05-2007 12:32 PM

They have security people watching. :sweatdro:

johnnyblaze 03-05-2007 02:40 PM

you know what completly went over my head that was mentioned above: April visits Leo in the jungle and tells him that his brothers need him

sound so cool that he meets up with April half way across the world and will probably make for a great moment where we get to see the genuine love Leo has for Don, Mike and Raph.
