shrunken splinter

i was looing over the character design for the new toon and i noticed that splinter is really small, he barely reaches shredder's waist. personally it doesn't bother me i love the new splinter design. the only thing is the size inconsistency of the figure version, i don't care that much because that toy is excellnt, i was just curious if this bothered any of you

Machias Banshee 01-24-2003 12:14 PM

Archie fan, i take it? Yeah, I'm more into a taller Splinter (as my art proves <--shameless plug), but as long as there IS a Master Splinter, I'm happy. :D

Karpo_007 01-24-2003 12:17 PM

Yeah the Dog splinter in archie was about turtle's high if I recall correctly.

Machias Banshee 01-24-2003 12:19 PM

Archie Splinter wasnt a dog, he only looked a litlle like that....

*dreamy grin* Yeah, he was the same height most of the time, and at many times taller.... :D

Karpo_007 01-24-2003 12:22 PM

Well no He wasn't a dog, but sure looked like one... That's why I call him that..

Machias Banshee 01-24-2003 12:33 PM

 True....but he was dang handsome! :D

HorseTechie 01-24-2003 01:09 PM

Snigger.. but as Yoda demonstrated in the last SW movie, size doesn't matter to a (ninja) master! Though.. it still makes sense, since rats are fairly small size wise, in comparison to humans. Mutant or no! And Disregarding those rumors they say about NYC sewer rats.

Sparvid 01-24-2003 01:25 PM

Wasn't it someone here who compared the Archie Splinter to Sean Connery? (and, no, I have no idea why I remember that...)

Machias Banshee 01-24-2003 01:36 PM

that was ME!

I was comparing Splinter to my favorite older Male actors....
Anthony Hopkins (from the Zorro Movie, NOT Cannibla :dead: ),
Sean Connery (he's so hot in Robin Hood: Prince of theives :thyper: )
And Jame's Earl Jones (Vader's voice is so Mmm Mmm good! :D )

Heh, sorry... :embarass: I like Splinter being tall, like here.....(near bottom)

*Melts into happy puddle* :D

But yeah, I'm just happy with the thought that Splinter's not old and decrepid like in some of the comics I've read....

Youll be happy to hear James Earl Jones is back for Episode Three!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the dog looking Splinter Archie thing...*shudders*

Karpo_007 01-24-2003 03:33 PM

JEJ is back? Well that is good news, Sadly I don expect lot from the movie... Lucas has proved that He can't write good dialogue, and The plots in New Episodes are like straight from Disney movies...

Actually the down fall happened after Empire strikes back.

I agree 100%. As if Lucas' piss poor writing wasn't bad enough Natalie Portman and Hayden Christianson are two of the worst actors ever. Episode 2 gets my "Most Painful Movie to Watch" award for last year.

MzTheInsomniac 01-24-2003 04:42 PM

natalie portman is prety good tasting eye candy though :D :D

Karpo_007 01-24-2003 05:07 PM

I always thought Dean Clarrain's artwork made Splinter look more like a gopher.

Straight-Edge 01-24-2003 08:00 PM

Bah!

>>And Disregarding those rumors they say about NYC sewer rats. >>

Laugh all you want.. I live in the City, and those rats are fricken *huge*! If Splinter was a New York City rat, I'd say he could easily tower over the Shredder after he'd been mutated. But seeing as how he's a little Japanese housemouse, I like him in his diminutive 4'10 height.

But damn... a NYC sewer rat's about the size of my head.. with a tail longer than an extension cord. If you're not used to seeing them, its a pretty stomach churning visual.

May I ask why?

If it's because it didn't have they didn't have the same feel as the original trilogy, you have to remember that not only does this all take place BEFORE the original trilogy (hell, why do you think they're called episodes 1, 2, and 3?), but this is a new era in film making, so it won't have the same tone as the originals.

Personally, I thought AOTC was ok, but it could've been a HELL of a lot better. At the same time, however, it blew TPM out of the water!

Karpo_007 01-25-2003 02:14 AM

Because they are bad movies. Dialogue is badly written, and they seem like disney movies. IE. Anakin destroys that battle ship and yell "oops". I don't even go to Jar Jar Binks... Episode 2 was better than episode 1, but still very bad Movie. The dialogue is so cheesy.

Raphael 01-25-2003 09:58 AM

Oh, I'm sorry... I thought I was in the Technodrome, not the Death Star. ;)

I've never seen a Star Wars movie.. kill me if you must.

Karpo_007 01-25-2003 10:02 AM

The first three movies are about the best sci-fi there is, The 2 later ones are just special effect movies with bad dialogue and acting... Because of the way Episode 1 and 2 are, Im not expecting lot from 3.
