On the subject of Season Sets.
 

Does anyone else think it kinda stinks that they're doing this so late? The price of Volume 1 is the same price that one DVD of 3 episodes was. So I have 10 DVDs of the show that I spent 3/4 too much on.

Anywho, I'd like to buy the season sets as they come out, but at the same time I'd like to sell off my existing DVDs. Is this a good idea? How much can I expect to get for them?

good question....I traded some of my old ones at a bookstore that took in used DVDs and VHS. For each of my TMNT DVDs, I got $6.

Good thing I always stuck with VHS and taped them off the television. I currently got 101 of the 132 new cartoon episodes on tapes, and it didn't cost a penny.

I never bought 1 disc of the 2k3 series. This is a good time to get it now. I mean I don't like to own dvds with a few episodes. I prefer season set. Considering this is season 1 part 1 so it's not complete.

I prefer having all the footage I can get my hands on. So, I'll be keeping my 2K3 vol. 1 to 4 until I get the new DVD. If it has all the significant extras on it (Laird interviews, Dong Woo shorts, toy commercials, and, far less important, Totally Made-up News Team segments that I only want for the historical accuracy of how some producers still insisted on disrespecting TMNT as some dumb kid franchise), THEN I will get rid of them. If not, I'll just copy all the extras to a DVD-R, then destroy the originals. I do what I can to make sure TMNT is financially successful.

Ugh, I can't think of the bookstore name that might do this... Borders Books, I think? That's not a bad deal. I could have made a fortune on my old DBZ DVD's if I had kept them in their original packaging.

I only bought the first dvd, because I have limited shelf space, and I've been waiting for season sets. I've got the first dvd "attack of the mousers" on half.com right now for $5 and it's been there for six months with no buyers. So I don't think you can get much for these.

It was not Border's, Vegita-San. It is a bookstore that is only located in two parts of Oregon.

I got nearly all of season one on DVD for around 3 bucks a DVD on amazon.com. The new sets might have extras not found on the previous releases. Maybe we'll finally get episode commentary!!!

I'm happy to hear about it, even though I've already bought several of the previous DVD releases. I don't mind buying the same episodes again if it means having them in complete, chronologically-accurate sets.

And I can always donate the older DVDs I have to the Children's hospital after I've replaced them, so that's something.

RightStuf has posted much-improved cover art for the first DVD set. It now states in a comic book way that this is "Season 1, Part 1 of 2". Heh. Much better than what Video Universe still has.

And by the way, I've purchased every single TMNT 2k3 release (even FF Vol 1) and will be buying these as well. Can't wait. :)

Oh wow I really like this! I still dont see why they couldnt just make an entire season 1 box set though....those 4kids always tryin to make a buc gosh golly!

The cover looks like it was designed to look like a comic book all-around. Quite cool.

The cover art is very nice. Much better than the usual quickie job with pieces of concept art slapped together. Very dynamic and appealing.

I was just about to buy the Radical Box Set for $20 when I heard about this season set. I think I'll wait.

The thing that really irks me about this (aside from the fact that there is no indication that we'll get the significant bonuses reissued) as that I'll have to wait until Part 2 is out to see if they do a Collector's Box to house the both of them. There doesn't seem to be one planned for Winx whatever, but who knows if they'll change their M.O. before September?

Nah, we have Borders here (Nashville metro area)...they are a chain just like Books a Million (which I do not find here readily) and Barnes and Noble.

I already dropped my money on all the old DVD's I think I will pass on the season sets.

I hope it's more then two discs in a keep case.
