Why do artists draw Power Girl that way?
I have been reading a lot of JLA/JSA trade paperbacks lately, and the one thing that seems to be very consistent is how, for lack of a better way of saying it, well endowed Power Girl is always drawn. What I want to know is why and when this particular tradition started. Most artists (with many various styles) that I have seen ALWAYS draw her that way, even when that particular attribute isn't necessarily a part of their style. Is it a joke or a reflection of the character, or is it just taking advantage of the chance to draw stuff like that??
http://hallofheroes.free.fr/Images/Heros/powergirl.gif As you can see...this is obviously a very prominent feature for this character...not that there is anything wrong with that lol. |
Why do you think?
I'm all for boobies myself, but the way this character is usually drawn is nothing short of ridiculous. Hell, your example picture is one of the more reasonable ones. |
They kept drawing her boobs larger and larger for fun until some editor or something noticed. Unfortunately, I'm fuzzy on the details about that one, as to when and where it happened, but it was at a time wherethe CCA still had something to say.

It started as a joke. One artist decide to keep making PeeGee's breasts larger and large each issue to see how long it would take for people to catch on.

Question: Why do artists draw Power Girl that way??
Answer: So then the horny teenage boys have something to ogle over when reading. Plus, there is that slight possibility that it can lead them down the road to looking at porn. Next please :| |
Actually, I'm pretty sure it was a woman who started that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not being offended by this. I just couldn't resist throwing that crack in there :P
Truthfully, I don't mind reading comics and there is a women in there with breasts that are the size of my head in there. It's all fiction, not harming anyone. I'm actually not surprised that a women started the in-joke. I am very active on Deviantart, and there are quite a few women on there with great talent, and quite a few who have some very sick/suss jokes up their sleeves. And I have been proven time and time again by my classmates on how up front women can be, as both artists and people. At times, more so than the guys... I'll shut up now. |
lol, there's no need to shut up silly.

:| *unzips her mouth* Really? Phew. Well, I guess it was for the best before. I was gearing up to go into a fully fledged rant about something... :embarass:

Haha, yeah the feet do suck. That was the second thing i noticed about the drawing lol.

Wouldn't it technically be the third thing?

The one thing that I don't really like about the picture (apart from the feet) is where her knees are. They just seem too low on her. Then again, that's more than likely because of the way that they have drawn her shoes and her feet or something like that. Maybe she's taking steriods? I don't know...
|
Feet still suck, but yeah the legs are well drawn, not particularly attractive, but nice to look off of as a model for drawing mucular legs on women w/o making them seem on steroids.
|
It looks like Rob Liefield drew her.
|
Who's that???
|
Comic book artist. He was big back in the ninties when over the top gun toting hard men ruled the industry. The one good thing he ever really made was Deadpool. General survival tip, never mention the words "Youngblood" or "Supreme" with out the word "Allen Moore".
|
And never mention Liefeld without accompanying it with this pic.
