Best Michaelangelo episode in season four?
 

in season four the there where quite a few character episodes that focused on one turtle and he got to shine. Michaelangelo had quite a few character episodes in this season. He had five all together. Which episode about michaelangelo did you like the most and explain why you liked it? Which one did him the most justice?

Bugman was awesome! I liked it the best.

I never considered Poor Little Rich Turtles a Michaelangelo centred episode. I can see it somehow but I don't think it was anymore centred on him than some of the episodes with the Neutrinos in them.
I vote 'What's Michaelangelo Good For' as I've mentioned in past topics. That's one of my all time favourites!

Michaelangelo Meets Bugman. I watched this one not too long ago and it's a lot like the first Turlte Titan ep in the new toon. It's fun to see the similarities.

please give your reasons why. I would like to read them. Even if you have to copy and paste your reason why from another thread, i'd still like to hear it.

I too liked Whats Michaelangelo Good For?, and thought it was the best Michaelangelo centric episode ever dedicated to him. Mostly because...well the title says it, what is he good for? This really is the crux of Michaelangelo's dynamic, in some shape or form he is over shadowed by the three other turtles and their defining niches. Leaving Michaelangelo where? It brings the fact that Michaelangelo all though compentent and smart doesn't really get to do much in the team and prove him self so his true potencial and abilities are not realized, and sadly leaving him feeling inadequate. I mean Michaelangelo him self says it: Leoanrdo is the Leader and best fighter, Donatello is the gadget guy with the plan, and Michaelangelo even goes so far as to point out that he "isn't even wise guy like Raphael". This really says some thing, because being a wise guy isn't really essentical to a teams dynamic, its more so of a social standing in a group of friends, but Michaelangelo mentioning this implies that not only does he feel inadequate professinally, he also feels socially inadequate as well, because that area of esteem is covered by Raphael. kind of says al lot about his assesment of him self and his importance to the team. And its interesting that this episode directly adresses this and has him try to over come it.

This episode was also delivered in a rarely suble way than it usaully is. The whole plot involved some mad dude trying to extract the turtles intelligence, and the fact that Michaelangelo is absent during this gives off a real strong message about the general opinion of Michaelangelo; even when its not consciencely intended to. I think that is why the Doctors "brush-off" attitude of the the animals seems to anger Michaelangelo so much, because subconscincely its reminisent to how he has been veiwed.

I think this episode proves that Michaelangelo is a straight thinking turtle who is very capable and competent if given half a chance. it aslo showed a rare ssign of his intelligence in this episode. Where all the "Sciencetific" people in the episode where disregarding the animals as "inferior" Michaelangelo over looked that and just interperting their instincts and used that information to peice together and figured out what happened from basically nothing. and then relied on his abilties and common sence to do the rest.

So thats why Whats Michaelangelo Good For? gets my vote, cause it was actually a character developing episode. :D

I always enjoyed when they introduced a new mutant. Though now I realize there are far too many in the OT.

Basically because, as my favourite turtle, he was always protrayed as not really doing much significant good to the group in battle and stuff. He never came up with any ideas to really aid the group in any major situation and was always just kinda there. But in this one, he really comes through and he's the true star of the episode in which he's not shown as a goof or being in the way or whatever. He actually contributes in a major way and the episode itself was a nice one in the scenery and whatnot. I just thought it was good overall!

Well, he's still a great fighter pretty often and always participates well in battle, even if not often in the strategy. Not to mention, I find his charcter and emotions much more realistic than in the new toon, because in the old toon, rather than constantly joking and smiling, there are many times when he actually gets angry/pissed off, even though he was still pretty goofy. And if you notice, out of all the turtles, he had the lowest-pitched voice, and it made him sound pretty mellow (and serious on occassion) compared to his excitable new toon counterpart.

wow, it looks like Michaelangelo meets bugman is winning by two votes so far, with Whats Michaelangelo good For close behind. I'm actually a bit suprised that so many people like the Bugman episode, since it is pretty much just another adventure. This episode used to be one of my favorites when I was younger (mostly because it showed Michaelangelo with a diffrent interest other than pizza, which got pretty redundant) and it was nice to see him focus on something else. But I don't know... maybe its because its been a several years since i've seen this episode, but I didn't like it as much as I did when I was younger :ohwell: maybe I need to watch it again to really appeciate it, but it fell a little flat for me. I did that the bug guy was pretty cool (although a rip off of Spider Man) and I thought the transformation sequence was freaking awsome. It was actually kind of graphic and i thought that was pretty cool for an old toon episode. And who ever said that this episode is very similar to the turtle titan episode in the modern turtles series is right. Which super hero episode do you like better? Bug Man or turtle Titan?

meh, maybe you are right. I just felt that since in this episode "Michaelangelo's gets a crush on the girl" was pushed further in the fact that half way through the episode he awknoledges what a brat Buffy is and realizes that his crush was pretty much groundless. It was pretty much a lesson in character judgment, and even though its small it was still adressed.

that is basically why I loved this episode of him, because it directly adresses the issue of his placement in the team and how he seems to fall a little short and is over shadowed by the other turtles. But it still shows with out deviateing from his character, that he is capable and compentent all on his own.

Yeah, I some what agree with you on that one. I do find his character and emotions to be more realistic at times than the new toon. They just tried to make Michaelangelo a sympathatic character and that why you feel for him. And Despite the fact thay he was portrayed as surfer dude, old toon Michaelangelo still showed a range of emotions and could be serious at times. Which I find pretty astoninshing considering how the new toon is supossed to be a more serious representation of the boys. And as for his voice, I did like old toon Mike's voice because it was more lower pitched than the other turtles, and unlike other people who like to make cracks saying he sounded like a stoner (which I don't feel is the case) I think his lower voice made him sound friendlier.

I voted for What is Michaelangelo good for Ep , basically for all the same reasons sage ninja did, I like the fact that they went a little beyond the usual mike the jokester and showed us the other side of his personality too.

I went with Michaelangelo Meets bugman. my second choice would be whats michaelangelo good for.

I'd have liked that episode if it didn't have an angry fat naked midget in it.:lol:

I didn't like the Bugman episodes all that much as they seem cheesy watching it now, and the storyline was pretty silly/unoriginal.

The one i voted for was the most stand-out and it was odd to see Mikey striking it up with a woman other than April, plus the dilemma he had, whether he had worth or not.

Yeah it was interesting but the way Michaelangelo treated her really botherd me....he was like super rude.

I agree that the Bugman episode didn't impress me as much as it had when I was a youngster. But that is only because I found Michaelangelo just a little too over enthusiastic in this episode. The plot it self (although really cliche) didn't bother me so much because it was interesting in its own right. And I don't know I rather liked seeing Michaelangelo getting taken to task for slacking off in his training to read comic books with Splinter getting all pissy and annoyed with him when he disrespected him, and delivered his infamous "Rat-faced dude guy" line. LOL

But what the hell was the deal with the psudo-rap song the turtles where singing at the episodes start? :ohwell: Plus I thought Bug man transformation was pretty graphic looking which I liked. April was certainly a shallow bitch in this episode. First she is crushing on the guy then she is repulsed by him because he is part bug :roll:

yeah...Michaelangelo was being mildly hostile toward the woman, and she didn't really do a whole lot provoke it eighther :| . But persoanly I liked seeing Michaelangelo getting a little rude and angry with the woman, since its not normally how he usaully acts toward people. Its just that this episode is unique because Mike is interacting with another person who has views that are very difftent than his (about the animals) and he gets annoyed and frustrated with her brush off attitude. Which I thought was astonishing since normally Michaelangelo seems to have alot more tolerance for people than that. I guess it just went to show how strongly he felt about the subject.

In my post up above i speculated that maybe Michaelangelo acts annoyed by the doctor womans attitude concerning animals because it was some what similar to how others brush him off (subconsciencely). But maybe his annoyance wasn't linked to that at all. I don't know maybe he was just genuanly annoyed at how humans disregard other forms of life that aren;t similar to them as inferior, and the Doctors manner just rubed him the wrong way, since he thought she should know better being an animal doctor. Or maybe Michaelangelo was just pissy in general because he was stressed out about having to find the turtles all him self. In eighther case I loved the banter between them.

You know, even though Michealangelo was my favorite, I wasn't to fond of the Mikey centric episodes for some reason. That said, I went with "WHat's Michealangelo good for?", I love hybrid creatures and this episode's full of them.
