What would happen if OT and NT TMNT met?
Mikey: NT Mike would find his counterpart's accent utterly bizarre and behind his back, make fun of him by impersonating the surfer voice. OT Mike would find out about this, get even more annoyed than he already was with NT Mike's antics and ironically enough tell him to "Grow up dude!". But then they'd start skateboarding together and find out that they can work with their differences and NT Mikey would say "Man, I was only pulling your leg don't be so sensitive!" and then OT Mikey would say "Yeah but that was not a very good impression dude!".
Donatello: OT Don would be relieved to have someone to share his feelings with as he's on a completely different intellectual level than his brothers but instead of finding comfort in NT Don, he would be perplexed by NT Don's humility in regards to his incredible genius. OT Don has an übermensch-syndrome and is unable to appreciate the joy of simple things like his brothers can. However, this makes him very arrogant because he believes not being able to enjoy simple things makes him superior. NT Don is in the same boat except he actually realizes that it's both a curse and a blessing not being able to be satisfied with the simple things of life. OT Don realizes he hasn't found his balance yet like NT Don. They start working together, but that makes OT Don realize even more that he has his faults when he realizes that NT Don is better at cooperation when inventing stuff. He also realizes he becomes more competitive than NT Don which also makes him feel more unbalanced and unsocial. He realizes he's become too much of an eccentric loner and tries to spend more time doing simple stuff with his brothers. Yet, he's unable to, and starts to realize just like NT Don, that his genius can be a curse just as much as a blessing. NT Don knows he's the big brother personality-wise but tries not to act it as he knows OT Don won't find that acceptable even though he knows it as well. Raph: OT Raph would be intimidated by NT Raph and try to be more serious around him but without pulling it off. NT Raph would try to make OT Raph feel more comfortable but that would make OT Raph even more nervous. They'd be uncomfortable around eachother and OT Raph would prefer to hang out with any of the other NT before Raph, especially Mikey. After a while though OT Raph would feel more confident around NT Raph, and they would become good friends. Leo: NT Leo would be totally relaxed and light-hearted around OT Leo. His big brother instincts would totally kick in and OT Leo would remind him of his younger self which would make NT Leo nostalgic. OT Leo would at first feel threatened by new Leo seeing as he would become the natural leader of the group but he would then develop a really good relationship with him and actually enjoy not having to lead and let his teenage side more lose. Actually he would even start viewing Leo as his new mentor and they would train a lot together. End note: In my mind, the 2k3 versions are very clearly the big brothers in these relationships. |
:D :D totally good thread. I can see all the OT TMNT being really intimidated by their NT counterparts in general.

As a side note, I think OT Shredder would find NT Shredder completely arrogant and would want him as far away from him as possible, while NT Shredder would be so disgusted by OT Shredder's apparent ineptitude, he would want to put him out of his misery...then he would meet Rocksteady and Bebop, understand OT Shredder's plight and offer to take him away from it all:lol:   |
OT Raph and 2k3 Mike would definately get along the best.
And although the turtles are so different in both series, Splinter is basically the same in all atributes (except color :) ) Quote:

It depends, I think of the newer series as being an older more grownup version of the OT. I think Raph and Leo may scare their older counter parts.
How about the Splinters though? one started human one started rat? Think about their conversations. They would also complain about their kids... |
um...time paradox? Lol acutally them meeting would be awesome but sadly will probably never happen

I can't stop laughing at the thought of April and Casey meeting their counterparts. |

You are too fuuny - I love the concept and you absolutely nailed it!! |
I foresee two possibilities. One, coming face to face with themselves 20 years later would put them into shock and they would simply pass out. Or two, the encounter could create a time paradox, the results of which could start a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to our own galaxy. :D

Actually I think OT Raph would really annoy NT Raph, and they would have NT Raph / NT mikey relationship, except that OT Raph wouldn't deal with it the same was as NT Mikey, would take it really personally and be grumpy with everyone. He might also think NT Raph was stealing his thunder...
|
Yeah, I agree with jenna on the OT/NT Raph thing.
And I think NT Raph would scare the bejiggers outta OT Raph. |

So in a matter of speaking, the old-toon turtles were somewhat more mature as a family than in the new toon because they didn't fight with each other as much or get on each other's nerves as often. Being able to deal with family in a rational, non-violent way, to me, is a great sign of maturity. |
The old toon turtles weren't really a family.
|
Just because splinter didn't call them "sons" or they hardly ever called each other "brothers", based on what they do together in their free time and the fact they are willing to risk their lives for each other, they still seemed like a family to me. Actions speak louder than words.
|
Yeah, and getting annoyed by one another and still going out of the way to save each other says family to me louder than being the world's most fearsome fighting team.

Sounds like a family to me. ;) |
They just always came off as more of a team to me. If they had acknowledged the concept, that would have helped. Seriously, I had no idea they were brothers until I got into the comics. The new toon brothers actually act and acknowledge each other as brothers.
|
Yeah, you are right - they are definitely a team. That's what makes them so special - no matter what little dysfunctions are going on in their family life they can always band together and fight the bad guy, and then go back to the mundanity of it all afterwards.

And I say the old toon says family stronger. The old toon never really did to me, but there you go.
