The Discworld thread

I did a word search on the great Mr Pratchett and got about six or so threads, only one of which had anything to do with the man.

After about an hour of wall punching, a quick trip tot he hospital and the month or so it took my hand to become properly usable, I went to work. Behold.

So yeah, who reads Discworld?

Swany 05-15-2007 04:00 PM

I hate to admit, I've only ready two books by Pratchett. The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents and A Hat full of Sky. I dont actually know if either of them are in the discworld series. But if you would provide a list of some other books I woud be very grateful. Terry Pratchett is an incredible writer methinks.

Spawn Guy 05-15-2007 04:15 PM

Its not a matter of 'Methinks' its a matter of 'Iknows'.

The entire series (so far) in reading order. I recomend the entire Rincewind and Watch series.

Some of my personal favourites:
The Last Continent
Guards!Guards!
Reaper Man
Going Postal
Thief of Time
The Truth

Of course there's more, but that'd be posting half the series. And those two books are set on the Discworld, but there are a good few works by Pratchett other than that, such as The Bromeliad or The Johnny Maxwell trilogy.

Coolio! I'll toddle down to the library next chance I get and get as many of his books as I can find out.

10 books at a time! :D

I've heard the collage I want to be accept be has a HUGE library, so now I REALLY want to be accepted.

I love reading.

Spawn Guy 05-16-2007 02:26 PM

Yay, I changed a life.

Next.

Sewer Bull 05-16-2007 03:08 PM

Terry Pratchett? Oh I know him! Never read anything of him but wasn't he that old guy who told that joke about a man, a crocodile and an elderly lady in the bar? I saw that video on youtube, a friend of mine sent it to me. The joke was so hilarious, lol.

Spawn Guy 05-16-2007 03:10 PM

...

I am going to hit you so very hard.

Spawn Guy 05-17-2007 04:39 PM

So alone...

Swany 05-17-2007 06:14 PM

I'm going to the library on Saturday. Prepare for "OMG TP IS TEH AWSOMNESS" comments on Sunday (or probably saturday night If I read quick enough)

I'm just gonna pick up 10 books by him. :)

Spawn Guy 05-18-2007 01:13 AM

That a girl.

Barkworm 05-18-2007 01:56 AM

I started "Colour of Magic" a couple of weeks ago. I really loved the first chapters but I lost interest towards the end.

Spawn Guy 05-18-2007 09:57 AM

That Scrofula/Death thing was pretty cool. The Light Fantastic was amazing. One of the few tag on books I actually enjoyed. Stuff like that usually pisses me off.

Swany 05-19-2007 04:09 AM

Didn't go the library today. Loaded with the cold and its POURING outside. (Scottish weather, eh?) Plus, I didn't want to hang about in the bowling for most of my morning.

Meh, next week.

Time Mistress 05-19-2007 10:50 AM

I've read Wee Free Men and quite liked it. That's a Discworld one, isn't it?

Spawn Guy 05-19-2007 07:49 PM

Yeah. Now read more.

Time Mistress 05-20-2007 08:34 PM

Yes sir! Hat Full of Sky will be next on my list of Pratchet reads. I also have an advance copy of Johnny and the Bomb on my shelf somewhere. I own way too many books.

Drewatello 05-27-2007 08:10 PM

Heh I love Discworld especially Rincewind and his killer luggage. I have read most of them and have the Discwolrd role-playing book somewhere in the house. I love Pratchetts sense of humor and the way he has developed his characters.

"Can I have them mashed"
"Your a 6' DWARF?!"
"Headology"
"Do not call him a monkey if you value your life, call him the Librarian."

Spawn Guy 06-01-2007 07:28 PM

Swany 06-02-2007 05:37 AM
