TMNT Art Tutorial??

Talks with Kali and Mouse over at the RPG board have brought up the past suggestion for a TMNT Art Tutorial here at the Technodrome. Krang, I remember you agreeing that it would be a good idea, and I also remember Kali and Machias volunteering to help out. So... Anyone still think this is a great idea? We've got more members, more artists, and more visitors since the last time this idea was proposed. Personally, I'd love to see a TMNT art tutorial. I think it'd be helpful having artists share tips and tricks to those who are just starting. ;)

Krang 02-06-2003 04:42 AM

Yep, I still think it's a good idea, and I'm still willing to host it if some of the artists here would put it together and send it to me.

Kali 02-06-2003 08:31 AM

Yeah, and I'm still willing to help.

I'll post a link in the tutorials thread to here, and here people can make suggestions as to what exactly they would like to see in the tutorial. Of course, there's "How to draw ninja turtles" but like if people want a section going into details about the hands or feet, or how to draw Splinter, or something.

Let's make this one a bit more productive than the last one, shall we? :P

azure turtle 02-06-2003 09:39 PM

Yeah!! Let's get this thing rolling! :D

Krang, can we move this to GTMNTD and make it sticky for more exposure?

Krang 02-07-2003 03:17 AM

Good idea, I moved it. Hopefully more people will see it here.

I need an art tutorial, my TMNT pics suck. It's a good idea! :D Hope something comes of it...

Machias Banshee 02-07-2003 04:00 PM

*blinks* Geez, been a while since i've seen this... :P

Heh, but yeah, i'm still willing to help out...when i'm not doing homework...:tgrumble: Heh, knowing folks around here, though, they'd want to learn oNLY Mirage design, or Archie only, or the cartoon....any way we can avoid that?

BigThew 02-07-2003 04:19 PM

man if i wasn't so busy i would LOVE to do this

poopy

Donatello02 02-07-2003 04:23 PM

If you need some help on the sketches for the tutorials, I can be of help. I'm pretty good at the turtles, movie style, old cartoon style, new cartoon style, original Mirage style, I'm up to it.

Psycrow 02-07-2003 04:25 PM

This sounds like a great idea. Hopefully it comes out successfully!

I have some drawings. If I post them, can you see If they are good enough for me to help with this drawing project?

By sticking to a general style, and maybe giving individual tips on what exactly made "Mirage style" "Archie style" etc, stand out from the others.

Ooh, volunteers. I'm sure once the cold clears from my head I can figure a way to organize this. We could make like FARP or one of my Chris Hart books and have every person take a section.

TerranigmaFreak 02-09-2003 10:02 AM

Hey sounds cool, can a newbie like me help out? I do the style that Konami used in the TMNT Tournament Fighters(SNES version).

BigThew 02-09-2003 11:20 AM

what would one need to do as a tutorial...i don't know how long they would take

here is a sample
http://home.attbi.com/~bigthew/tmnt.jpg

if i get all my other art out of the way and am not to busy i might make one in the near future

Donatello02 02-09-2003 12:16 PM

Very nice, Bigthew

Kali 02-09-2003 01:16 PM

Here's a topic from the Fanworks forum on tutorials.
http://www.thetechnodrome.com/forums...pic.php?t=2307

The FARP one is more in-depth then we're going for here, The first one (Hall of Creation) is a good example of set up. Step by step instructions with pictures of all the steps. We don't need too much. A main one on turtle anatomy, and smaller ones on specifics like hands, feet, faces, maybe shell patterns, weapons, one on action/fighting poses would be nice. We're still brainstorming.

azure turtle 02-09-2003 03:26 PM

Yeah, I think a general tutorial would be a good start. Then we can branch off into other styles, like Archie, Mirage, etc.

Nickokapo 02-11-2003 11:16 AM

OMG this could be so useful to me, specially now that i got my scanner :D
Good idea  i'd say go for it.
I don't think i can help out much as i need some practice myself (Or else i wouldn't need a tutorial, DUH ;) ) but i'm totally supporting this :D

Loolaa 02-11-2003 02:34 PM

Hey this is a really good idea, I've never seen anything like this before. Everyone could learn from it!

ToshiMustgrind 02-11-2003 04:54 PM

I try to draw in an [japanese] anime style.
I'll get a really good pic together and scan it and stick it here. I don't know how to teach others how to draw though....
