Unique Packaging and Misprints
I am not a box collector. I take almost all of my Turtles out to display and play with them. The only ones that stay in their packaging are figures in which I consider the packaging part of what makes the item special. People were asking me in another thread as to which types of items fall into that category, so I'm making this thread to discuss it without hijacking the other thread. Without Further Ado:
MISPRINTS AND ERRORS Misprints and Errors are any item which the packaging differs from the intended factory appearance. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_1346.jpg Donatello Pez Dispenser with Star Wars Card. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_0037.jpg April with Casey Insert. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_0036.jpg Mozar with Fugitoid Insert http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_0038.jpg Original Mikey Mounted Upsidedown. BOOTLEGS! A bootleg toy is any toy made without the consent of the owners of the Intellectual Property. Often times the packaging is a bad copy of the original packaging, or contains MAJOR copyright violations. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_0032.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/100_0035.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/100_1265.jpg (The Power-5 Robot I would probably have kept in the box anyway because its VERY cheaply made, and I've only ever seen this one for sale. More pictures of the Power-5 Robot can be found here http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...wer-5%20Robot/) Non-United States Versions Version of Figures made for territories outside the United States. Nromally the figures are exactly the same as their US counterparts, so the packaging is the ONLY difference. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...turtles003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...turtles002.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...turtles001.jpg Hope you enjoyed the post! Feel free to qask any questions you might have. |

Wow yeah that stuff is nifty, I like the Donatello on the Star Wars backing that's funny.

Maybe its just me, but I have no desire to own these misprinted items. I mean, i know some people do like it and thats fine, but for me, not my thing....heck I was mad that I couldnt find a regular shellastic Leo & don (all I could find were the misprinted card's)...

As a TMNT fan AND a Star Wars fan, I gotta love the Donny on SW card Pez.
Do you suppose you'd ever consider selling the Power-Five figure? I've never seen that before and it's got my full attention. :D |
I really like the box art on those Japanese figs, that armor looks cool even with the initial.

Yes, all of the photos in that post are items I own. None of which are for sale...ever. Sorry :-/

Understandable. I wouldn't part with anything in my TMNT collection either unless I had more than one, and sometimes not even then.
Can't blame a guy for tryin'. I'll just keep my eyes peeled for another. |

Hey Archon. I saw this and thought of you. Surprisingly there is a bid on it already. I dunno how hardcore you are into these things but judging from your collection you are loaded, so take a look.

I love the upside down card one. As for the 2k3 stuff, I know near the end Playmates had terribly quality control, I remember getting multiple cases all with the wrong inserts for the turtles (leo on don, don and leo)
