I sat down last night & watched a few of the new Turtle cartoon on youtube, defo not for me, just not the same as the old Turtles. Some people might like them but not me, 80s all the way for me.

Give them a second chance.

When I first saw there was an episode last year, I got turned off by the pupil-less character designs.

However, after watching the new movie, I decided to give 2k3 another chance.

I am very glad I did. It is now my favorite TMNT version. And the lack of pupils is one of my very few complaints about it.

I,ll have another look, but i dont think it will change anything.

What episodes did you watch? And watching this show on youtube does not do it justice, the art and use of colors is awesome if you watch the DVD's.

I watched several episodes of the first season on YouTube before investing on the DVDs. They were still good enough to hook me on it.

Of course, on DVDs they look even better. Can't wait for the 5th season to be released on DVD.

Point is i dont like the New Turtles, thats the point.

Tarantulatom, I suggest, if you haven't, watching the Shredder Strikes pt. 1 and 2. No need to get into the first few eps seeing as how we all know the origin story, all though it is still cool to watch the different versions, but I wouldn't get too into that. What really got me into the story, was first I played the first game (modeled after the 2K3 series) which I thought was cool so I checked the show out, and the first episdoe I saw was the Shredder Strikes Back pt. 1 and 2 which I thought were really good.

One main difference between the old and new is that the old was so goofy, and the new has a more serious appeal. When Don is supposed to be smart, he really is, like in an ep where he talks about deciphering a code using logarithms which is not genius status but you get my point. It's defintely something that most people wouldn't know or remember. The best part and main difference is that in the new the fighting is really good. The animation flows nicely, especially in the Shredder Strikes Back eps.

So you should check those out too. From there it's great. There are a ton of good episodes. At least check out the fighting because that's what really kept me into it. I suggest the scene where the Foot Elite take on Raph, Don, and Mikey, in Shredder Strikes Back. Also there is a sweet one in the beginning of Worlds Collide where the turtles fight Bishop. I highly recommend checking them out.

I'd also recommend you check out "The Shredder Strikes" part one and two, and if you like that enough, "The Shredder Strikes Back". Really good episodes.

If you just don't like the new show, that's cool, but I'm curious: have you read the original Mirage comics at all? I know that a lot of people unfamiliar with the comics have a hard time getting into the 2003 series as it's so different from what they're used to (the 1987 show). If that's the case, I'd definitely recommend giving the free comic scans at the official site (available on the "comics" page, down at the bottom) a read before anything.

Of course, if you still don't dig it, that's totally fair. But I think it deserves another chance.

To each his/her own. Personally, I had to watch the whole thing before I myself could actually approve of it, every episode of every season had something to add to it...with a story, you can't have a beginning without an ending. Even now I still have a bit of beef with that SAINW ep, being it's the only ep that fully went against my standards, but I learned to play past it and think better of it.
I'm not saying you have to do the same, but it'd be good to give it another shot, and it might take a while, but patience is a virtue.

You should also watch the Garbage Man episode (alot of people hate it, I like it) It's a good throwback to the OT (trench coat disguises, random bad guy, don throws his bo alot, "cowabunga", it's a bit goofy.)

You really need to watch all 26 episodes of Season 1. This season sets up the entire characters and universe of all the following seasons, so you really need to appreciate the first season to like everything that comes after it.

It took me a while to get comfortable with the new toons. I have to admit, I really haven't liked animation of any cartoon nowadays and the 2k3 characters' voices' sound weird to me. But the story and the characters kept me in front the screen and while watching the 4th season I was really addicted. :lol:

I respect your opinion, Splinter Jr., but you should definitely give it a chance. I heard the Turtles were back and decided to check out the show. I saw it and immediately liked it. Just try to like it.

That's why I watched too. Cause I loved the Turtles, no matter how they are presented. But I have to admit, I did have to get past my preconcieved OT thoughts. One wonders if it has something to do with how many areas of TMNT one is exposed to. I have the OT, Movies, and Archie comics (to me until the New Series came out I knew almost nothing about Mirage, and still have a limited knowledge.) I think the more diffrent TMNT series, with their individual diffrences, you are a part of, the easier it is to like almost all of them (except maybe Next Mutation...:P)

At least you're not saying "Old toonz dontz hold up" on a forum that respects the original series just to be a pedantic ass. Big props bro, not that I agree with you, but I also prefer the original to the modern series. Both are excellent series though in their own ways.

The reason you can't get into the new show is because you grew up watching the 1987 show. They are obviously very different from each other. Everyone in this forum know that the 2003 series follows the original comic book very closely for the most part. Ironically when you said "80s all the way for me", you didn't realize that it was in the 80s when the first TMNT comic came out. And of course we fans of the new series know that it was based on that first comic by Eastman and Laird(until they betrayed us with Fast Forward).

U that's not true for everyone I grew up with the old show then went onto the mirage comics.
I apricate the fact that we have so many differnt turtles universes out there they're all differnt in their own special way and I think that makes each one really awsome.
