Why isn't Eastman involved?

I had posted this as a tack on in another thread, but I didn't get an answer. Also, this may have been discussed before. if so please link me...

Why exactly is Eastman no longer involved with TMNT. Was it a good split? Are Eastman and Laid still friends? Did Eastman take a buy out offer from Laird? I have never understood whats up.

Eastman wanted to work on his own projects so Laird struck a deal with him to buy out his creative control on TMNT.

Eastman still gets royalties from the franchise and apparently has new Turtle stories to tell...although I doubt we'll see them done anytime soon.

And that's a shame really.

Thats what I had assumed...

I met Eastman at a convention in NY one year...2002 maybe? I can't even remember...it was at MSG around the july 4th weekend...maybe someone know what I am talking about.

Really nice guy who loved interacting with the fans. He autographed a set of the turtles with energy weapons (darkhorse miniatures) for me. I was set up as a vendor at the show and happen to have a set with me.

One of my business partners met Laird at a convention in Phily in sometime later too. So I hear he was cool as well. TMNT people seem to be happy to sign autographs and be friendly with all of the fans which is awesome.

Maybe we'll see Eastman's work pop up on fanfiction.net ;)
