TMNT fandom in the future?

Have you ever wonder how far in the future tmnt fandom will go? will there be people in about a 150 years forexample, who gets a facination for 80s stuff like tmnt, transformers, ducktales, nes and fashion from the time? im pretty sure it will! you got people to day interested in antiques and popular stuff from the 19th century and further back in time!

I think it may be a memory like the Brady Bunch. I do not see it getting up to Spiderman levels, but it is not something that will fade into total obscurity either.

Putrescent and I were talking about this yesterday. Co-incidence.

Present day we are lucky enough to have the TMNT creator/s still alive and walking the earth, wheras the creators of Superman and Batman have long since passed on.

TMNT will certainly live on through a multi-age fan base the same way Transformers, GI Joe and other things are now becoming immortal through the fan generations.

So long as the people who take up the reins after Laird don't destroy the Turtles. That's the main thing I'm worried about. Because I don't particularly agree with the way he's handling them as it is. *shrug*

Roseangelo 03-26-2008 07:23 PM

Yeah, it really depends on what happens post-Laird.

Which is why it's important for fans like us to keep the true spirit of the TMNT alive. It could literally be up to us to pass the legacy and history of the TMNT that we love from one generation to the next.

It's got me thinking about fans also like when we all get super old and have dromes syndrom (some people already do :P ) but there will be a whole new generation that grew up with this new show.

Buslady 03-26-2008 08:35 PM

Well, personally for me I'll be 95 years old and still watching Raph kick butt.

Beyond my days, I see TMNT as they're doing now, a retro thing but it'll be 2K3 TMNT!

I think there will always be a decent number of fans around no matter what happens. Hopefully the franchise can manage to continue on, or at least the comics will be reprinted so future generations of comic book fans can have them be easily available.

Ninjinister 03-27-2008 08:51 AM

The Turtles will never be a faded memory as long as I live. And even after then, the legacy shall live on through my disciples and any eventual offspring I may have.

During those dark years between Next Mutation and the release of Volume 4, I held a vigil and promoted TMNT everywhere I could. If a cataclysm occurs in the future, I shall do the same again.

Ten years later...

Mikey: "They are tired of my "Cawabanga, dude-" What should I do!?"

Leo: "Reasonable, you should try something new, Mikey, flow with changes."

Raph: "Yeah, like when they tried to change my "Let's kick some butts!", I let them end up changing their bandages."

Don: "Classical never gets old, Mikey, never."

What has that to do with the topic?

CJStyles 03-30-2008 05:57 PM

Dunno, but I think the fandom will be around for many, many, MANY years as long as fans, like us, are dedicated to the franchise
