How many of you lost interest at a certain point in time?

I got into TMNT back in '88 and then started losing interest in 1994 due to other things going on in life, mostly me not being able to wake up early on Saturdays anymore to catch the show on CBS. I still loved the TMNT but I was no longer interested anymore. Throughout the years, I would play the occasional TMNT video game, or participate in a brief TMNT chat once in a while. I never got to see Dregg or the last fight with Shredder.

Then came the new cartoon which totally revitalized my interest in the series. Sadly, the only things I have of the TMNT are the first 2 NES games in my closet. I recently downloaded the first 6 eps and got addicted once again. I'm definitely keeping watch for the upcoming DVD release now.

How about you guys?

I got into the turtles in 1987 and the interest stayed within me until my freshman year in high school. I was getting too busy with my 3-year research project for the state science fair. Finally, during my Junior year in college, the interest popped back up :P

I dunno when I left the TMNT. I guess I just grew out of the cartoon.

About two years ago my little brother started playing with my old toys and watching what few episodes I had on tape. I ended up liking the turtles again. I found the official site and found out about the original Mirage comics. Then I stated visiting the forums at UM and later here.

Y'know, my brother also got me back into Godzilla. And now that I think about it--I wouldn't be spending $100-plus a month on comics if he wouldn't have gotten me back in to the turtles. Dang him for keeping my wallet empty!

I think everyone did at one time or another....i did for a brief time when i entered high school. They were no longer on tv around here and I was too involved with growing up...meeting boys...You couldn't DL old eppisodes like you can today...and I wasn't much for fan fic because I was just begining to learn my creative writing style....

But now that I am grown up and secure enough to regress back to the early days of my youth...I can admit to my love...and I find that many people around my campus still enjoy turtles too...

I think everyone grew out of them at a time because they were growing up and had to grow up to grow back... And now many of us can enjoy it with our children (not I but many) and younger bro's and sisters or cousins...or maybe kids we "nanny"

I always liked TMNT since day one and hopefully always will

I've always liked them, but I guess I grew out of them about... 6 years ago. I coulden't find them on TV, and I had gotten addicted to Power Rangers. Then about a year ago I decided to watch the movies again, and I it all came back in a rush.

Then I looked online and found the offical site through a fan site and learned about everything I had missed out on the first time around. Then another site posted something about the new cartoon and toy line and games, and then i was hooked all over again.

Since then i've been recollecting all my old toys we gave away (i had the Technodrome, Sewer play set, van, blimp, and a set of the first Mutations figures, along with some other random ones). I've picked up 4 of the comics so far since i have to go out of town to get them (our comic store that used to carry them here shut down).

I always had an addiction for the Ninja Turtles. My addiction grew stronger when they left. And when they came back.... my addiction grew even larger. Now, it is as big as Andre the Giant. And it's still growing. :trazz:!!!

I got out around the same time as you, due to personal problems (my cousin passing away) And things like that seemed trivial to me for awhile.
Then a few years later a friend told me wants to play TMNT IV (For SNES) and asked me to bring to his house, so I did and BANG! I was hooked again!

I think I was about 4 or something when I started obsessing about it. And it was a nice little addition to my life till I turned 12 or something, when I laid away my toys cause I decided to "grow up". Seing as the show stopped early and the archie comics ended when I was about 7 there wasnt much more left to keep me obsessed. And I have to this date an intense request of finding all my mini-turtles, which was the last thing I "played" with :P

Later on I hit the net and got little periods of Turtles-mania, but I didnt have broadband then so I couldnt really acquire the episodes or anything. Sad... Seriously, what keeps me ticking now is the awesome new series! :D I totally got the oldschool Turtles-feel about it and now I'm gonna go obsessing about it *nods*

If this ever comes to Norway my economy is screwed XD

POWAA!

TERTULS! 4 eva!

I know I lost touch with the Turtles for awhile. I was addicted to the cartoon, and when that went off the air, I went looking for a new obsession. I got into NT:TNM, but that eventually went off the air as well.

Well, when we finally got the internet, I was heavy into Gargoyles. I was surfing around for fan fiction one day and came across some ninja turtle stuff. Instantly hooked again. That was late 2000, and I eventually got involved in the fandom. I don't think I COULD leave now. I love my Turtles, and I love you people.

HorseTechie 02-18-2003 11:45 AM

Yeah.. I also lost touch between 1993-1996, due to no new comics and cartoons... and then that really sucky movie.

Then in 1997, I discovered the online TMNT fandom and I've been hooked since. It's amazing how hanging out with a bunch of fellow fans motivates you to hang in there. :D

Karpo_007 02-18-2003 12:34 PM

Yeah after the cartoon stoped airing and archie was cancelled. I got back to fandom when I heard that the TMNT is not originally a Kids thing. Bought all the comics. I also downloaded the whole cartoon series for Nostalgia.

PWDESAI 02-18-2003 12:49 PM

I never lost interest, just my obsession went down a little. I never hated or stopped likintg the tmnt. I would have different toy lines or do other stuff sure, but never lost interest.

Domo 02-18-2003 01:44 PM

I have loved TMNT as lond as I can remeber. I have always loved them, although as some have said, sometimes to a lesser extent and sometimes as a main obsession. Every one in my area loves the TMNT for the simple fact that it was the sole purpose of the childhoods, a time when things were much simpler and full of wonder. Nostalgia kicks ass!

Sparvid 02-18-2003 04:11 PM

Let's see... I was interested of the Archies between around 1991 to the third movie came out. Then I threw almost all of my comics and went on to different things. About 4 years ago I tried seaching for some TMNT websites, but didn't find much. Then one day I was buying comics and TPBs from an swedish internet store when I saw "Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles TPBs #1-7" So I had some money left (I think the price for the whole set was around $40), and found the official site, where I read that there were some Collected Editions out. I figured that these TPBs were those, so I bought them, together with #50-62 and some more loose comics :) After reading the first TPB I was hooked (and was thinking "Hey, I remember this from the movie!";)) so I searched around for some TMNT-related forum, and found this! :)

Well I was born in 1984 and I became a fan around 1989 or 1990. My friend and I used to play TMNT II and III to excess on Nintendo. Then came the Super Nintendo games... and around that time I began to lose interest. Like many here, my interest has come back and I've recorded every new show and I am downloading all the old ones... and I really hope the old toons that I grew up with will be released on DVD!

I started losing interest during the Red Sky eps. Didn't like those very much, and I only watched a handful of 'em. Then I started watching TNM before Fox mysteriously yanked it off the air. I lost interest almost completely, then got back into TMNT late December, just in time for the new Mirage comic. :)

prowler4 02-18-2003 08:47 PM

When I was little, I was really into the ninja turtles. I don't remember ever seeing the dregg eps though. Anyway, my intrest shot up when I discovered this site. Now tho, it has died again :tcry: and it won't come back(That's why I don't post as often.) Even with the new cartoon! I watched the premire last sat, but missed the second ep. HELP BRING MY TURTLENESS BACK! :goof:
