What comic either mirage or archie would be a animated series ?

Which TMNT Comic Adapted should be made into a Animated cartoon Archie
or Original Mirage ?

ToTheNines 05-11-2008 03:38 PM

Most definantly archie. Mirage already has the 2k3 show, even if it was quite different, it followed the same general plot for a while and adapted several issues.

The 2k3 series was/is kinda popular, but the original show was a mass epidemic (to put it lightly). I know Archie was different from the OT, but they were quite similar. If done right, an Archie based series would be sensational.

Archie by far. It already has the cartoon style done for it they would just need to tone it down a little, and I stress very little, because it didn't have to much violence but the kind of violence it had was a bit to much for kids. Course this is assuming their making a kids show out of it. If not then it would be all set. It has plenty of engaging story lines that adults could follow and uses characters from the old cartoon that they remember from kids and already love.

One can dream right?

As has been said much of the eps of 2K3 are straight out of the Mirage books. Vol 1 and Tales of the TMNT vol 1 especially.

I'd LOVE for a series adapted from the Archie series. And in fact they had a Mighty Mutanimals tv series planned that would have included Ninjara in the group and the TMNT would have appeared in several episodes. I've seen images of the characters and their gadgets from the proposed series. It would have been awesome...

Ah here's the info:

Back in 1992 the Mutanimals were being shopped around by Mirage as a spin-off of the turtles. Ruby-Spears showed some interest, so an animation bible was produced along with a style guide of all the characters, environs and vehicles by some Hollywood animator (I forget who). Plot synopses for the first season were completed, with the 13 episodes centered around the Mutanimals' efforts to combat an invasion by Maligna.

All the regular cast of the Mutanimals make the transition, although they were redesigned - streamlined you might say - to accommodate budgetary restrictions in the animation process.

Krang makes the jump from the TMNT universe to become the main villain and friend of Maligna. A host of villains both new and old are on board to help keep the Mutanimals on their toes.

Of note, you will be pleased to hear, the Mutanimals get a new member: Ninjara joins the group.

The Turtles guest star in the first 4 episodes.

In Episode 9 the Mutanimals go to Dimension X to meet Cudley the Cowlick. How's that for cool?
There's lots more pics and stuff on the blog (it's Steve Lavigne and Ryan Brown's blog site)

It would rock to have an animated series adapted from the Archie comics.

But I would be satisfied by having arcs and characters from the Archie comics being integrated into 2k3.

I would especially like to see the Animus War arc animated. It can be easily blended with 2k3 storylines- and it was my absolute favorite Archie arc.

i would like a mirage series, maybe in the vein of the old spawn. not hampered by the saturday morning limitations.

Jester 05-11-2008 06:19 PM

Archie, Archie, ARCHIE!!!! I love several of the arcs, and as has been said it could almost be folded into the 2k3 series.

A Mirage series that isn't limited to Saturday would be great, too. If only Imagi's TMNT #1 was made....:(

If they're gonna do something like this I hope they do it before the OT voice cast gets too old to do their Turtle voices.... is Peter Reneday still alive?

VaughnMichael 05-11-2008 07:10 PM

Archie and Mirage mixed together.

Buslady 05-11-2008 08:43 PM

Archies is fine. Just give Raph someone MORE WORTHY than Ninjara.....

A little *too* Raph 05-11-2008 09:39 PM

Archie would be sweet. I loved the Armaggon arc.

Yep. Pete Reneday is alive and well. Last time I saw him on tv was a couple years ago when his character died on General Hospital from complications of a heart attack (just like Splinter! ) and his last word was "My sons..." (just like Splinter! ).

I consider Jasper and Jerry Jax to be brothers of the TMNT. Mmm.. Ingo Radamacher (Jasper)...nummy....

I would love to see the Japan storyline from the Archie series in cartoon format

You mean that Japanese demon who almost destroyed the nuclear power station in Japan.

so if Nick did use the Archie series as a reference. Could that means they'd tell Archie to continue the actual comic?

Lordmylar06 01-01-2010 11:36 AM

The Mirage universe had more stories than the Archie universe did, but I think that the Archie universe would have a more broad appeal. I personally prefer Archie TMNT for a cartoon, but I feel like they can do something in the vein of a hybrid of the two.

I really enjoyed how the Archie comics took the '87 TMNT universe into a different direction with it's characters and storyline rather than just simply adapt such and such episodes. I also remember that the storylines were more often more engaging as well. Personally, I wouldn't mind a animated series akin to this.

They could pull from both series. The kids who watch this show aren't going to know the difference anyway.
