Danny Spitz's custom Paul Reed Smith TMNT guitar

yes this is tmnt related :P. My family is musically talented. My dad sings/plays guitar, older bro plays piano, my twin on drums, and my sis sings as well...blah...blah...The one thing that I'm proud of having is a Paul Reed Smith (best guitars in the world!!!) they're high end guitars to begin with and my dad and I always boast about having one 8)

I don't really listen to bands like Anthrax, but the guitarist Danny Spitz, is a TMNT fan- believe it or not. And he wanted to show his love of turtles by customizing his PRS.

the guy's got a couple of tmnt customs on road tours and this one was sold on ebay:

I wonder who bought it.

No one; it didn't sell. I think I saw them try to sell it twice, with no bites either time.

I couldn't blame 'em. Its overpriced by $5,000. Hopefully when I become a famous rock guitarist in the near future, I can customize my own PRS with a tmnt paint scheme and little pizza inlays on my fretboard

GK Punk 05-19-2008 09:40 PM

That;s not even his first, years ago he had one with just one of the TMNT on it.

Dude PRS Guitars are really freakin expensive anyway  I'd love to own a single cut, personally.

I've got two. One is a singlecut. I'm thinking of selling it since I'm using my other more often these days.

Just out of curiosity, what PRS Models do you own? got any pics? I love drooling over them haha.

Anthrax, turtle fans

Very nice custom paint job. Actually, Dan had another guitar that was a Jackson Rhodes V with ninja turtles on it way back in the day during "Among The Living" days too...

That's the one I remember with just Raph's head on it I think and it looked more like the old toon.

GK Punk 05-22-2008 01:42 AM

Yeah that's the one. I've been trying to find a picture of it, with no luck. It was pretty slick.

My Dad was watching MTV when I was a kid and during a music video that featured a live performance it popped up on screen and he ran to get me. I was pretty young but I thought it was awesome. I'm sure he regrets showing me cause I pestered him to get one painted on his bass for awhile after that haha.

Man this guy should have done an act with George Burns.
Would have been perfect!
Danny Spitz while George Burns!

I used to want an Ibanez with a TMNT paint job on it. But now that I'm a Les Paul junkie, I don't see myself going through with it. Who knows though, maybe one day I'll do it just to do it. I'd be torn on what version of the TMNT.

Cool design on that guitar!

Wish I could have some TMNT stickers to put on my Yamaha SA-1100 (Gibson ES-335 version).

I remember me and my bro playing a track to "Pizza Power" and "No Treaties" a looong time ago. I'll look for it when I'm free.

GK Punk 05-29-2008 03:57 PM

Oh man, that thing is gorgeous. I bet it plays like a dream too. How do you like the Tremonti SE? I keep trying to decide if I want one or not.

I got it about 2003/04-ish. This specific model is discontinued now. Besides the look, the sound isn't as good as the classic considering its much cheaper/cheaply made (in Korea) and it sounds more like a hollowbody than a classic electric (CE). But I still love it and sounds pretty darn decent (its better clean than distortion). I'm thinking of letting the SE go someday (I really wish I knew what someday means here). Do you mean deciding if you want any Paul Reed Smith or a specific model (I assume SE)?
