i'm thinking of doing a stump wrestling mike and archie repaints of slash and hothead at some point...

Patraw 08-20-2008 10:25 AM

The Screwloose/Joe Eyeball repaints look good--it's a shame Playmates always left the little buddy accessories without paint apps.

Yeah, the black suit Raph doesn't look right with pads, etc. If you had the patience, you could sand them off. An alternate, unmasked head, without bandana, would be cool too.

The Foot repaints are nice, but, a gloss finish doesn't look right on what's supposed to be clothing--I would have went with a flat tone.

Wow you and Tokka should talk.

shuriken 08-24-2008 09:33 PM

That was really awesome. I really like the foot figures.

Liked the Slash and Stump Asteroid Mikey...great work.

Patraw 08-25-2008 09:58 AM

If you're going to do some heavy duty sanding, a small power tool, like a dremel or drill, would probably be best (you need the right tips/adaptors for that). I suppose you could use a larger machine, but, unless you removed the limbs, etc., it'd be very difficult, if not impossible, to get to the smaller nooks and crannies. If it's just light work, then doing it by hand is probably the way to go.

I really like the green Triceraton, I think the color works better than their traditional orange (reptiles and green just go together). The Slash and Stump Mikey also look good.

The Foot's paint job is too garish looking for my tastes.

Pretty good stuff for the most part; I liked the Archie-style Scumbug the best out of the lot. Conversely, Zach and the Stump Asteroid turtles were the weakest offerings in my opinion. The Cement Man was interesting as well, even if the sculpt is very basic--that's the first time I've seen a custom of him.

TurtleManiac 09-12-2008 12:13 AM

the zach and cement man characters are quite interesting as they were never made into official toys. the baxter could use a bit more work, like making physical changes to the figure to re-create his cartoon image.
