3 TMNT wannabe's get lost in NY sewers
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/...g_lost_in.html
Three blockheaded teenagers were busted playing in a sewer Wednesday in Queens - after getting lost while pretending to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, police sources said. Schiller Milfort, 16, of Hollis, and Marvin Ottley, 17, of Bellaire, along with an unidentified 15-year-old boy, were shirtless and in their shorts and sneakers when firefighters plucked them out of a sewer in Kissena Park. The make-believe heroes were crawling around the sewer system when they got confused and lost their way, police sources said. They were not injured, officials said. "These three idiots were playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and wanted to go into the sewers," said one police source. "They were never in danger, just goofing off and being stupid." Milfort and Ottley were charged with criminal trespassing. The other teenager was released to his parents. |
You would think they would know better than to go running around the sewers.

I kinda did as a kid, younger than them though. And technically it wasn't the sewer, just rain water drainage tunnels. There wasn't much getting lost, we never went to far, though one day I heard my mom calling me and I was in the middle of our little crawling convoy. It was fun trying to get around all my friends to get home.

eww, that must have been freakin nasty to pull them out of there!
|
Just goes to show that the Turtles are somewhat popular if kids in their late teens were trying to emulate them!
|
Haha, silly kiddos.

I would say something about this, but a wise rabbit once told his friends: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."...so...I'm going to button my lips and not say a word.

I never did this when I was younger, despite my love for the turtles. Whenever I'd see a manhole, I'd just wonder and leave it at that. I only had one friend at the time who was into TMNT like I was, and when we'd get to playing as them, we'd just go into the basement. It's cold, kinda dank, and there were pipes on the ceiling, so it wasn't really all that different, aside from the poo smell and chance of disease.
As for the article itself, these kids could have been doing something far worse than this to get the attention of the police. Sewer-surfing; my anti-drug. |
Schiller Milfort, Marvin Ottley and a kid with a name so nerdy they refused to release it to the public... wow.
They were prolly live-RPG players that got bored of being red sonja's, so the decided to make us look bad. |
I'm not going down there, it smells like poo-gas!

Back in 1991, I heard of two instances of children caught attempting to open manhole covers to look for the Turtles. This is the first time I have heard of anyone having made it this far.:o |

wow that must have sucked for them. But I kind of thought that most sewers aren't big enough for people to be running around in them. Anytrime I got the oppertunity to see down a man hole, it was just big enough for rats to crawl around in.

Here in Texas you can't vote at 17 and 10 months...or something close to that.

Dumb kids. Closest I ever came to that was going a few feet into a drainage pipe. THough there was that one time two friends and I managed to pry open a manhole when I was six. We weren't gonna go down there, though. We just wanted to see what it looked like.
