Playmates could have gotten the Marvel Comics licenses (shudder)?
I was reading through some of the past "Points of Articulation" at Oafe.net, and I stumbled across this:
"At the end of 2005, Marvel bought out ToyBiz Worldwide (though that must be for tax purposes or something, since they're really buying out themselves) and will handle all the TBWW stuff themselves, probably being overseen by (or at least with input from) Hasbro, who gets a five-year license in 2007 at which point they'll be the ones in charge of everything. The bidding process came down to them and Playmates, but the boys from Rhode Island came out on top." Here's the whole article if you want to read it: http://www.oafe.net/articulation/0609.php Man, Hasbro has had their problems with the Marvel lines, but I don't even want to think of what Playmates would have done to it . . . gah!!! |
hahah gawd you and me both man! That would have been horrible, all those hulk, spider-man and wolverine variants:o
It'd be like the 90's all over again but without half the work. |
yeah but maybe then they would have been too busy to do the turtle license and someone else could have picked it up!!!! Just thinking about...well...ANYONE besides playmates doing the turtle line gives me a chubby.

So when you go the NECA figures did it cause a "Figuregasm"?

So I think something may be up with either the factory or shipping or something. |
Playmates DID have the Marvel license for a little bit, though. They had some little mini figure dice game or something. It went over like a lead balloon. So, they would have had the license, but even then... not very long.

whoah! imagine what it would be like if playmates did make marvel action figures!:dead::o
