David Wise Interview - Are you watching, LionsGate?

See, it doesn't take all that much effort to produce any form of audio commentary or interview :). Just go where the guys are and equipment is already set up. They won't charge you for it at Comic cons :)

For Part 1

Part 2

Thank you David Wise!

And damn you youtube for not letting us replace videos already uploaded without deleting the page itself :).

Interesting stuff! Thanks!

Jester 11-11-2008 06:16 PM

Oddly, Wise calls them brothers...but they were never written as such...:P

It's interesting how it's a serious story that was made fun of....

Hey, he said he wrote Mikey as Jeff Spicolli! :P

Why do people keep saying this? They may not have used their little pet-names for each other in the old cartoon, but they were definately brothers.

As a kid, I never remember referring to them as anything but brothers, ditto for everyone else who watched it. And I had zip exposure to anything besides the old toon and movies.

PAAATE 11-11-2008 06:48 PM

It was an interesting interview :)

But.. Someone, get the poor person who shot this a real mic.. :( Could barely hear anything at times

Jester 11-11-2008 06:57 PM

I guess it's because they called each other "friends" and not brothers and Splinter always called them "My students" or "pupils" as opposed to "my sons."

I only noticed it as an adult though, I always assumed they were brothers, I just noticed re-watching the series for my episode guide...which seems to have taken a extended hiatus.

Hopefully giving him some commentary tracks is what pushed back season 7... that's the only thing that'll chill me out. And if he isn't on there then forget about, I don't wanna hear what he has to say about Red Sky since he didn't really like it that much

He didn't? That's the first time I've heard that. Why the hell would he work on it then?:-?
EDIT: nevermind he talks about it at the end of the video after rambling on forever he gets to the good stuff, and in the second part of the interview..the first part really isn't needed as it's not even important, I don't care about some womans name on the credits.
Nice that they got to talk to him but these questions aren't that interesting, I could think of about a hundred off the top of my head that are allot more interesting and important that fans have been wanting to know.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was REALLY pissed that the one time I could have really used it for a long interview, the thing starts cutting out on me. The only thing I could think of is that maybe his Bluetooth earpiece was interfering with my Blu-Tooth Mic signal.

I'm getting a wired mic now that my new camcorder supports it..

Where where you guys when I asked for fan questions a year ago? I think I only got one or two replies and had to think up some on my own. :).

Hmm, that's odd I don't remember seeing anything.
Perhaps it got washed away in a sea of retarded threads about which turtles does this or that or who's favorite tooth paste brand is used by what bad guy. Sort of like my post about asking people to post questions for Murph, no one really seems to give a crap yet they all whine about his blog being gone.

Me neither. I did some searches, and other than this one, there have been no threads posted anywhere on the forums regarding an interview with David Wise.

As I have said before, anyone who is disappointed in the content of any section of the forums is always welcome to start threads that they do find interesting/relevant. And you're free to bump your thread at any time, since it's more likely that people haven't even seen it than that they don't care.

Hmm odd, perhaps he thought he posted it and didn't.
Well Yes I know, I don't post in the general section very often but that has mostly to do with past posts being about those polls, and so I would avoid it.
Anyway, I guess I was being a bit harsh in saying they don't care, it would just seem that people would want to ask some one so involved in daily TMNT business more questions, but like Archon said to me tonight if he wants to ask Murph a question he'll go find him. *shruggs*
Was just trying to make this a more fan involved thing.

Sage Ninja 11-12-2008 01:16 PM

hmm, one thing with David Wise I disagree with is I think some contention among the turtles would have been alright, so long as they didn't go over board with the fighting. If used right tension and disagreement among the turtles could have added some more demension to their realtionship and been a sodifying force to their relationship.

I'm suprised David didn't like Carter though.

And I think a commentary tract with David Wise talking about the episodes he wrote would have been kickass and shame on powers that be for not jumping on that when he actully offered to do it.

I think David Wise is very intuned with the fans and I like that. It's so true that the fans would have been up in arms throwing molatov cocktails through their windows.

BigApple3AM 11-12-2008 03:28 PM

Wow this is very awesome of you to do. I'm at work so I can't listen to it until I get home, but I can't wait. From what I'm reading here it sounds like he knows more about TMNT then I would have expected, possibly to the point where he's a fan. David Wise is like a celebrity to us old toon fans. Thanks for doing this.

ZariusTwo 11-12-2008 05:27 PM

So Wise ghost-wrote most of season ten? I knew those first five episodes had his hand in there somewhere, because the last three were completly disjointed and unfulfilling. Jeffery Scott isnt a bad writer, but as Wise noted, he was out of his leauge with this version of TMNT

I'm gonna disagree on that one, Vaughn. I, for one, have always wondered who in the world the great and elusive Patti Howeth must be. I figured it was her magic touch that helped make the pilot eps so memorable. And since she never appeared again on writing credits, I always assumed her departure took some of the edge off the action and drama. Boy was I wrong! LOL Thanks for asking that question.

I am also very impressed at Wise's ability to recall specific episodes like "Plan Six from Outer Space" off hand. If I had written as many different episodes of so many different cartoon series, I expect I wouldn't have his memory.

I just really don't give 2 craps about some woman's name in the credits of the show that has about a million more important questions that could have been asked, but hey now you guys know the answer to this question make sure to spread it across the internet so those tuns of fans that apparently wanted to know can know the answer to their burning question.

Wow, very interesting interview. I was really suprised he didn't have anything to do with Carter. I didn't really like him anyway. Whoever posted the interview, I idolize you for being able to meet him.

ToTheNines 11-12-2008 08:18 PM

One thing that stood out to me as awesome was the fact that TMNT revived David's passion on writing cartoon episodes :)
