Voice acting in the orginal series

what do you people think of the voice acting in the orginal series? Do you think it holds up by todays standards of voice acting in cartoons? My eight year old neice Jess watches the new series with me and loves it, as well other cartoons like justice league and batman. I've recently been showing her some of the orginal turtle series and after a few episodes she told me that the voice acting sucked. :o :o

At first I thought she ment that the dialogue sucked because it was corny, but Jess told me that the acting it self was just terriable, and that voices them selves where bad. She said when ever the characters try to sound sad or angry or even excited that they sound so fake and unrealistic. There was one point where I was showing my neice the episode where irma gets taller and Leonardo loses control of the van driving toward her and he screems "I can't stoooop!" and my neice thought he sound way to forced and didn't sound really scared.

My younger cousins (who range between eighteen and five) kind of have the same opinion that the voice acting in the orginal toon is kind of terriable. :( Does any one else get this when you show the orginal series to any one who didn't grow up watching the series? I'm wondering if the reason I think the voice and acting of the characters in the orginal series is good is because I'm blinded by the fondness for the show and the fact that it's voiced by voice actors i adore that I over look some of it's flaws. :-? Would you say the voices and acting quaility of othe old series is as good as the new toon and cartoons today?

I'm sort of noob to the 80's cartoon but besides being decidely more cartoony in nature I think the acting has been pretty good. Especially from Krang.

Maybe your niece is just spoiled on "animated drama" cartoons where the actors voice the characters as if it it whjere an live action series instead of cartoon. That can really make a diffrence.

Although I do agree that acting wise 80's Leo doesn't compare to NT Leo. 80's Leo sounds way to mellow dramatic when he is giving his "speeches".

Sacralige!! The OT voice cast are some of the greatest actors in the buisness. and many of them are still working.

OT actor pwn the new

Eventhough they are two different types of shows. Its too much talent in the original series, which means those voice actors obviously have more experience not just doing this show but many others. And probably most of the new toons voice actors are doing one voice. Where as the old toon voice actors did multiple voices, mainly because they probably were on a budget.

But still i think for the most part they would pwn the new actors, the new dudes are cool, but when you are comparing them to the legends Tress Mcneille, Cam, Barry, Townsend, Rob, Peter Reneday, Pat Fraley. James avery might lose the voice comparison if you count the new shredders voice, because the new shredder has all that added sound effects to his voice. So that voice would obviously sound more impressive than the OT shredders voice.

Old toon actors > new toon ones
in my opinion.

I think your neice and cousins are full of balony, 1066. The voice acting in the original series is top knotch.

Could you even compare the judgement of a kid who has watched cartoons for about, what? seven years? versus someone who has watched cartoons for over 20 years?
I rest my case.
