My screen-used TMNT Foot Soldier mask prop!
Hello!
I don't post too much here, but plan to more when I get some things for sale underway. So good afternoon to all! I've been a big fan of TMNT ever since the 1988 show. Over the years I've collected many action figures. I have over 65 of them and about 14 on original artwork cards, some vehicles and the Krang Droid Body which all I have gotten when they were in stores. I've watched many of the cartoon shows, but not so much the newer series from the 2000's era because life's gotten very busy. LOVED The movies (except #3... which I've written off as a non-legit TMNT film, hehe). Anyway... this has to be THE coolest TMNT thing I have ever owned. It pretty much dwarfs my toy collection. This is the only site I can think of where people would probably most appreciate seeing this, so here's my Screen-used Foot Soldier Mask from the original 1990 TMNT film: http://www.imaginessence.com/images/foot_2.jpg http://www.imaginessence.com/images/foot_1.jpg The mask was not that impressive when I first saw the image as it was advertised, but I knew I could make a more suitable display for it. Here's the before picture as it was received: http://www.imaginessence.com/images/mask1.jpg The only thing I really did to the mask was fix up the small broken seams on the sides and middle, but I felt it was important to leave it as-is otherwise because it was, afterall, used. The headband was folded better to match how it was seen in the film. Finally I sewed together a faux chest piece to put over the shoulder/lower neck area to finish the piece off, but nothing has been affixed to the mask at all. Same one, just a lot more presentable and attractive IMO. Hope you enjoy the pics! |
Holy moly guacamole...
I always find it interesting when someone gets their hands on an actual TMNT movie prop... It just gives your collection that much more of a 'pop' doesn't it? I wonder how many of these Foot masks are out there.... |
I didn't even know that there was stuff like this out there! Awesome!

Hi! thanks for the comments!
Lil, yes! It's actually a replica and not the actual screen-used one. A prop replica maker produced a small number of them when the film came out and I bought a raw tan-colored casting of it. I painted it up and weathered it to get it as close to the real one as possible. I can post a pic of that later if you like, but I know this is a TMNT thread. I really don't know of many people at all that have TMNT props. I know of just a few things that exist out there I've known which is a few of the TGRI canisters, the "Ninja Rap is Born" newspaper, Michaelangelo Nunchakus, a few proto mask castings, a Shredder shoulder armor piece, and a full Leonardo suit. That's all I've ever known to be out there that anyone outside of any production crew owns. This was the first Foot Soldier mask I've ever seen anywhere and I know finding a TMNT prop is far more rare than coming across a Star Wars prop, so I couldn't pass it up. I still have a couple things I want to do with displaying it, but will have to wait til I move into a new house in the coming months where I can give it more space. |
Yeah, I haven't seen too many TMNT movie props - only but a few - so that just makes your mask that much more special.
Also... just noticed you're here in the Evergreen State. Awesome :tthumbsu: |
You are one lucky person :o I rarely see anyone with TMNT original movie props, especially from the first film. If I had that mask, I'd be too afraid to wear it since it might tear.
Just curious, anyone know where the original movie 1 turtles costumes/ animatronic heads are now located? I doubt Eastman or Laird have the originals. |
Awesome! The more I see the few TMNT movie props that have popped up, the more I want one. Congrats on landing such an awesome piece!

Ryan was kind enough to send me some pics of the mask and tell the story about how he got it. All of the pics and info is up on Ninja Pizza.
