question about giant TMNT (vintage)
 

was there ever a version of the vintage giant 12" tmnt figures that had plain white eyes with no eyeballs? i coulda sworn i had one as a kid, or perhaps the paint just scrathced off. cause i just won this set on ebay

which im ver excited for as i never had the full set as a child, just had the donatello. so i was debating whether to paint their eyes white so they have no eyeballs like the original toys. i probably wont do it just to keep them intact, but i was just wondering if anyone knows for sure if there was a "white eyes" version of these giant tmnt or if they always came with black eyeballs.

I was wondering who picked that up, I wanted to grab them yesterday but you swooped in before I had a chance to. Grats :-)

To be honest, I don't know the answer to that question. If there were white eyed version, they were variants as opposed to official releases. Vaughn could probaqbly answer your question.

P.S. If you paint the eyes I will kill you.

To be honest I'm not sure but I think they always had the eyes they could have made them just white in the 1998 re-releases KB toys had but who knows for sure I never bought mass amounts of larger things like that.

Hmm...good question. I'ma check mines out and see how they look.

EDIT: Couldn't find my regular giants off hand, but I did notice that Giant Slam Dunkin Don has white only eyes.

I'm pretty sure these never came out with white eyes. I have some of the originals and some of the rereleases and they look identical.
Maybe this is what you're thinking of. It's a catalog pic that shows them all with white eyes, and Raph heads.

I could have swore that they were all white, but then I remembered I had a pic of one of my old dios with gaint Raph in it. He has black pupils.

yea that picture brings back memories, im pretty sure that was what i was thinking of, good research there. they look kinda creepy with white eyes, like they would scare children or sumthin. maybe thats why they had eyeballs as opposed to the regular size figures. i like the way the eyeballs look on leo, gives him personality. those 4 giant prototypes with raph heads might be the same ones that are on the back of the box, but now with eyeballs. btw i also had the giant basketball don, with the green slimy basketball. him and the regualr giant don were the only giant tmnt i had back then. and the don i had, whereever it is now, i remeber was in horrible condition, missing belt, chest all scratched up etc, but again i was young and careless..\ i dont remeber the 1998 KB re-releases though, but i did get a technodrome scout vehicle as a 1998 KB re-release.

i wish giant leo came with 2 swords not just 1! and giant mike with 2 nunchux!
