Comics vs. Toys

I recall one of the first comics that I got had a chameleon on it... Did they ever release any toys from the comics or vice vice versa?!!

That was likely Archie's TMNT Issue 9. Other than basic characters (who have also appeared in other versions of TMNT -- ie: the cartoon), no Archie Comic exclusive characters have had toys.

Man Ray didn't ever appear in the animated series and he had a figure.

And was Tattoo?

I think the figure came first in Ray Fillet/Man Ray's case. And he did appear in the show (as has already been established by another board member), even though was a different look to the character. I think Tattoo was also a figure first, and might have had a short appearence in one ep. of the cartoon.

There are also Scumbug and Wyrm (that could be noted in the same vein), but I think their toys came first as well.

I totally discount Ray from Rebel Without a Fin as being Ray Man or Ray Fillet for that exact reason he is nothing like the character in figure form or from the Archie comics.

That's why I brought up the fact of it being established by a board member (some time ago, when you were disputing it before). With a letters page answer that made note of them being based off the same character (even if there had to be differences for the cartoon version's appearence).
