My latest Original Art Haul...including a cover!!

As some of you know, I'm pretty big into original TMNT comic art. While most pieces I don't announce, I really had to share this acquistion. Starting the new year with a bang, I just got this piece in today. My earliest cover yet!

And if that wasn't cool enough, I snagged this sweet 8 page story. The first story where the Turtles were printed in color back in Grimjack!

Very cool! Although you might want to double check that fact about it being the first TMNT story printed in color. The official website lists the 4 page story by Kevin Eastman and Richard Corben entitled "You Had to be There" as the first ever full color TMNT comic first printed back in TMNT volume 1, #7.

Thanks for that but I aware that the website says that. That info was confirmed by Kevin before I wrote that. I wanted to be sure. It was drawn and colored before any other stories.

I think those stories came out at roughly the same time..I think I've heard at one time or another that either story was the first. Either way, awesome load! There was also an old Michelangelo page on ebay recently, and a pretty sweet E/L drawing from '84! I was outbid on both..damn.

Yea, they did come out at roughly the same time. But if Eastman, who did layouts and paints on the corben story and who drew this story tells me that this one is first, then thats good enough for me. Either way, it really doesnt matter as for me its awesome to own any complete early story, much less a cool one like this

And I saw that Michealangelo page as well. Great page but I guess it didnt meet reserve. I didn't bid on it as I just recently bought all of this and needed to recoup a little. It'll probably come back up again.

Heh, I remember that 8 page story about the Turtles in the alien bar from the B&W Shell Shock reprint. Pretty funny, stuff.

OA 01-20-2009 04:17 PM

Yea, it is a funny story. I love the old school turtles with babes and booze. I think it was reprinted a couple of times, in the shell shock book, munden's bar annual, and elsewhere? Originally printed in Grimjack though...

Congrats Term! Were these ebay finds?

OA 01-20-2009 05:15 PM

Thanks man...no, not on ebay. Someone sent me an email and the rest is history!
