Mr. Null Custom {Now Complete!!}
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../NullFaces.png
This is someone I've always wanted as a toy as he was one of the main bad guys for the Archie TMNT as well as the Mutanimals. This figure is a work in progress and I used a WWE Armando Estrada figure as the base. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...us/Armondo.jpg This custom is my first commission to be completed and is going to it's creator Steve Murphy. What I did to this figure was: Sanded off his hair (both head and face), sculpted a bit more to the head after sanding down, sculpted a bigger chin, and sculpted horns which were the hardest part as getting the placement just right and trying to judge as to where they should go according to the comic books was a bit difficult because they kept changing positions in every panel. But this is what I based him on, the art is by fan fave Chris Allan. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../NullComic.png I should be done painting him by Monday so check back then for more pics, it feels nice to get back into making customs again as it's been awhile for me. I was letting a certain overly critical customizer get to me as well as lack of time with my now full time job. Anyway please keep in mind that this is not finished yet but I was just to excited with how it's coming along not to share, like I said Monday things should be done. |
Yet another reason why I want toi read the Acrhie comics...
Awesome custom!:tthumbsu::tthumbsu: |
he's a little two horny...get it?
|
I anticipate the finished product!

Anything from archies is cool... :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Looking good, Vaughn! I can't help but think that you could've saved yourself a ton of trouble by going with a DC Direct Lex Luthor head, but you've probably made that horrible WWE head look as good as possible. :)
That's also really cool that you got commissioned by Murph, of all people! |
interesting, but i think it would look better with sharper facial features. he kinda looks like an older, heavier tom hanks.
i had planned to do a null custom using a prof x and metal mutant don's wings but it was not to be. |

I'm done letting other customizers nit picky comments get to me. Quote:

But I see what your saying I didn't even know about that Lex figure until you just told me about it, I had a bunch of differnt ideas in mind for this custom but in the end it was on Murph to which figure I use. Yeah we talked one day about customs as he liked my Complete Carnage and NECA wrestling tmnt and I asked if he'd like to see me do one of his Archie characters and we both agreed that it was a shame Null never got made along with a number of other characters of course. I'd def. be willing to try my hand at another version though if anyone wants to supply the parts. Quote:
Null has had many looks by a few artists, it's hard to pin just one down to go with when working on a custom. Prof X was my first choice but he doesn't stand on his own very well, also thought of using Hitman by NECA but Murph wanted the wrestler figure. http://www.necaonline.com/images/pro...702_blowup.jpg I also went by Murphs comments when making this and what version to do, he wanted Null as we see him during the battle with the 4 horse men. People also should keep in mind that the customs I make are in scale with the NECA, DC Universe, and Marvel Legends lines and not with the old TMNT figures like other people on here tend to do. But anyway you should try making him anyway, It's always fun tos ee other peoples takes on things. |

and you def. understand what I'm going for here, I'm a big fan of trying to bring all representations into one creation. |

Which Professor X are you talking about, by the way? The movie versions do have realistic cripple action, but I was under the impression that the ML one didn't have any notable balance issues. Anyway, keep up the great work -- I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product! |
Looks very good so far, the only criticism I have is that the skin-tone paint looks a bit clumpy, but a bit o' sanding should take care of that. The facial expression suits Null's character very well.
I've thought of sculpting Null a few times in the past too, but I usually consider doing the demon version, rather than the suit, just because monsters are more interesting to me than business men (even if they have horns). |
Looking good bro, and to be commissioned by Murph of all people? What an honor. :)
|
Looking good so far, and I'm always pleased when I see Archie customs. But that leads me to a question, how many different Archie-customs have you actually made? And which ones you still plan to do?
|
looks sweet!
wanna see the finished! |
Awesome character and an awesome job.
My only complaint is that he seems to have a bit of a Leno chin going on. Maybe you were aware of it and it's the best that can be done with the base head, but it's just something I noticed. |

Everything will look much better when I'm done like I said, which btw I'm not yet I had to work an extra day today so it's going to be another 2 days before it's done. |
I dig him. I can't wait to see the finished product.
|
looks great,the head almost looks like Kevin Spacey, as Lex Luthor.
|
Ok this bastard is done!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ious/Null5.png I had so many paint problems with this thing that should have been so simple to do hence why I'm just showing it to you guys now. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ous/Null10.png But he is 100% finished with no paint problems and all joints move perfectly. You can check out more on my blog: http://vaughnmichael.blogspot.com/20...old-world.html BTW Tommrow I'll be showing another long overdue custom figure. |
