TMNT mutants compared to X-men mutants
 

I remember in the height of the popularity of the original Turtle cartoon back in the early 90's, people compared how TMNT mutants were to X-men's mutants.

In X-men, most of them look like humans with some sort of special powers or abilities.

In TMNT, most mutants are either animals turned intelligent or humans turned into animals.

Do you like the way the TMNT franchise handled its mutants, or would you prefer to see some type of X-men type mutations in the TMNT universe?

The two types of "mutant" are pretty different.

They are similar because they are both from comic books, and if you consider the TMNT to be superheroes, they are both superheroes.

Other than that though, the mutants from the X-Men are considered a new development in human evolution, while the mutants from TMNT are the result of:

-animal's exposure to an alien ooze (comics)

-animal and human exposure to an ooze, which causes animal and human traits to combine (cartoon)

The Xmen mutants are born that way and are considered as a different human race/species "Homo Superior"
While the mutants in the TMNT have been "altered"

can we consider them as "super" heroes?

other than mutation which gave them human abilities, they dont have any super-human abilites. They're bound by gravity, they have limits much like the average human.

I think they're "super" since they were evolved from a regular ol turtle. But they're not super cos they dont have those gifts like x-men can do. No magic there with them.

so...they're semi-super heroes! :P

Yeah never saw the comparison....I mean its like comparing the Aliens from Aliens to Marvin the Martian, they're both aliens but they aren't comparable. Mutant is a pretty vague term and is used in two totally different ways.

In the sense of "hated and feared," I can make a real stretch of a comparison...but other than that, I can't see it. The TMNT come from a far less "glamorous" type of mutant than the X-Men...

Ok....Turtles and Morlocks...compare. :P

In a nutshell, the Turtles have less socio-political commentary than X-men.
