Good Job, but i hate them.

Ninjinister 07-10-2009 07:04 PM

My word that was uncannily rude!

I personally, do not collect toys of this kind, but those are very adorable figures. I especially am fond of the Usagi and pizza. What scale are the figures?

GK Punk 07-10-2009 07:15 PM

Those are pretty awesome actually!

Gee that wasn't rude at all.

Jester 07-10-2009 07:34 PM

Man, those are awesome, now go die a slow painful death! :D

Bigfoot 07-10-2009 07:35 PM

Awww... very cute...

I like the Splinter and the Usagi. I am not familiar with the littlest pet shop characters and was wondering what all you did to customize them, and what do you use for the bandanas, etc...

BoggleKng 07-10-2009 09:10 PM

My girls saw those and went ga ga over them.. me, not so much..

Wes 07-10-2009 10:33 PM

Those are both fascinating and adorable, Elizabeth! Thank you for sharing them with us. :)

Thanks, I guess. They're not for everyone.

Thank you! The Usagi is on eBay right now, but the rest have already been sold. I use those Littlest Pet Shop figures, you know, the one's with the bobble heads? They're about as tall as a thumb.

By this post I was wondering what I'd done to piss you all off. :-? Ha! Thanks for the PM to clarify. And thanks for your post.

I use apoxie clay or sculpt, rubberbands, and fodder from various toys. Here's a work-in-progress (wip) pic of Usagi & Leo: Usagi's ears are from an actual Usagi toy. I used Aves Apoxie Clay to make his clothes and shoes. On Leo, I started with that rubberband that looks like a nasal strip. It just didn't look right so I used apoxie clay to make his mask. The details on his body are rubberbands.

On the turtles with white eyes, I used rubberbands to create an outline to sculpt inside of.

I drilled a hole in Leo & Don's back for a magnet, so that their weapons would stay on.

Here you can see where I started with the apoxie clay. And there's my design for a Bebop that I still haven't finished.

Here's the other set of turtles; here's Don:

And here's Master Splinter's wip:

Well thank you!

Ninjinister 07-12-2009 03:09 PM

Woah, lil' Bebop! That's awesome! I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Bigfoot 07-13-2009 10:32 AM

Hey there, I commented earlier about your customs and think they are adorable, yeah I said it. I liked seeing the new WIP pictures and the mini Bebop is very cool, is that the finished pic? And if I may, why rubber bands?

Patraw 07-13-2009 10:43 AM

Incredibly adorable and creative--neatest TMNT customs I've seen in a while. I love when people customize stuff out of a toy line you'd never have thought would be compatible with the property. I appreciate seeing the process photos as well.

FLAduranie 07-13-2009 11:29 AM

Those are sick!!!!!! I hope to add some to my collection next time you have some on Ebay.

Thank you. He's got to have his buddy, Rocksteady, with him, so I'll need to get back to working on it.

Thank you!! I really appreciate it. No, he's not finished, yet. He'll be the same colors as Bebop. I use rubberbands sometimes because it's a 'cleaner' look than if I use apoxie sculpt. Or I use them to give me an outline and base to sculpt onto.

Thank you very much! I'm definitely inspired to make more.

Thank you! Just Usagi & Leo are on right now. The others all have new homes already. I'll post on here when I make more TMNT related stuff.

Does anyone have any requests of what they'd like to see? I'd love to make a villain set: Bebop, Rocksteady, Shredder, and maybe a foot soldier.

Buffy 07-14-2009 01:33 AM

Awesome work, I especially like the Usagi one.

Sarah 07-14-2009 02:49 AM

your LPS/TMNT customs are just too cute! I was taking a look at some of your other customs as well, and I must say that you do some very impressive work. :) in particular I really liked the large Hulk custom you made using the BAF Pitt. it's one of the best Hulk customs Ive ever seen, truly an amazing piece. I look forward to seeing more of your work. :)

Ha! I wish! My husband made that Hulk. We sell under the same eBay account. He makes the action figure customs & I stick with the Littlest Pet Shops. Here's a few links to our past work:

Thank you, Drome members, for being so welcoming and nice. It's really refreshing. I appreciate it!

that would be awesome.... littlest pet shop foot solider and shredder would be so funny.... great job on all your customs though thanks for sharing your work:)

Bigfoot 07-18-2009 01:19 PM

WOW! Awesome gallery! How did I not know these things existed?!

Some of my favs:
Bowser and the Koopas
The Southpark crew
Hellboy
Batman & Robin
lol... and the bloody rabbit and dog

As far as requests go, Shredder would be cool but he is human. I really like the fact that you are using the animal that these mutants originated. A Triceraton Warrior or Slash or Baxter Stockman Fly... I'm sure I could think of more.

Couple questions...
What kind of paint do you use?
On average how much do one of these figures cost new/used?
Do you use an airbrush?

You're so nice to me. Thank you!
Paints: Acrylic paint, usually Apple Barrel brand.
Costs: It's always different. With eBay auctions, it's all over the chart. My least expensive one sold for $14, it was a unicorn, I think. My most expensive ones were a set of the Land Before Time characters - $266. If you mean how much do the toys that I use cost, then it's about $5 a pet.
Airbrush: I have used one in the past, but it was borrowed, so I don't have that luxury. I wish I did! It'd cut the painting time down tremendously. I use a technique called, 'dry brushing'. I use a tiny amount of paint on the brush and just make tons of coats. It takes forever, but it leaves a smooth finish.
I like all of your ideas for customs. I'm working on a few commissions right now, but I'm anxious to do more new stuff. Thanks for your ideas.
