Raphael or Raphael?
In every incarnation of the turtles, Leo, Mike, and Don are basically portrayed the same. But Raph was either the angry badass in the comics, movie, and new toon, or the wise ass in the OT. Which is your favorite Rapheal ?
|
I prefer Raphael. But that's just me.

I preferred the smart-ass. Better than a dumb-ass, you know... :)
NEXT POLL: Michaelangelo, the laid-back surfer or Michelangelo, the ritalin kid? But, seriously... Please fix those misspellings. They're making my eyes itch. >_< |
Anger-issues, angst-ridden Raph ftw! Wise-crackin' old Raph's character wasn't too distinct from Mike and Don since they also cracked jokes, as did Leo sometimes too, I suppose. So badass :x Raph for me.
|
I am a Raph fan because of the "Cool but Crue (or is it rude....I'm never positive)" Raph of the OT so, I'mma go with Rob Paulsen's Raph. (Like there was any doubt right?)
|
I prefer Mirage Raphael, though classifying him as the "angry, badass" really makes him kind a a caricature of who he really is as a character.
But it's what you gave me so it is what I voted for. |
This thread had a very amusing aspect to it but then GK came along and ruined the title!
The poll and the first post are still great though. |
Sure, blame me!
Ok.. it was me... |
I'm not sure, but I think Archie Raph was more on the angry side...
|
I was thinking the same thing. Archie Raph was the constantly peeved version of his cartoon basis. Clown, he ain't.
|
Definitely OT. I don't mind watching the bad ass version, just because it adds for character for the group. But man, when I see OT Raph it's just awesome to see (episode 2 "Enter the Shredder") You can be sarcastic even in an angry way!
|
While I respect the need for a more dramatic character in serious versions, I find old toon Raph much less irritating, and usually pretty funny. So that's my personal preference.

I'm not too familiar with the comics, but the 2k3 toon I thought did a nice job of balancing an angry Raph and a sarcastic one at the same time. Gotta love the bold line "Karai should stab Leo more often!" Either way, when he's not PO, he often cracks jokes to enlighten situations. So, he's not that far off from his 87 counterpart.
But while Raph became my favorite in the 87 cartoon, the 1990 enraged Raph brought the character to a whole new light, and have since then favored the Turtle always fighting his inner demons. |
I'd say the Archie/OT one. I find him much easier to appreciate than the other version.
|
I'm going to have to go with Bad Ass.
I always loved the show, but never loved a certin one until the 2003 series came on. |
Bad ass one. I liked the OT wise cracking sarcastic Raph as well but it wasn't too diferent from Mikey or Don.
|
This thread was far more entertaining when Raphael was misspelled.
|
I actually ended up going with Old Toon Raphael. It's that incarnation that made him my favorite Turtle for the past like 5 years and he was way funnier then Michelangelo.
