Custom for Environmental Charity
There is a little shop in my neighborhood by the name of Zinnia. If I were to sum them up, I would say they are an alternative arts and crafts store. If you’re ever in South Pasadena, definately check them out.
On October 24th, Zinnia will be selling hand crafted art to benefit 350.org, a non-profit whos mission is “to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis—to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet.” You can read all about them in the link above. Quote:

1. I took the block of balsa they provided and set it on the comic page I wanted to use for a base. I outlined the block, cut the comic page to fit, and glued it on. 2. I scratched away part of the page to expose some wood surface that I could glue donatello to firmly. 3. then using the cover of the comic, I repeated the first step, but used an x-acto to cut the asterisk pattern into it. 4. Once the cover piece was glued on, I put a dab of glue on each triangle piece of the asterisk shape and folded it back. 5. Using the combination of a ban saw and a belt sander, I cut off dons lower body and shaped him into the angle I wanted. (I'm sure you could use a dremel, but I like big toys :-P) 6. I Glued him on to the wood I had previously exposed. Tada! |

Simple, but cool custom, and the fact that it went to benefit a worthy cause makes it all the better!
