Nickelodeon: "they want to focus on the '80s toon Turtles"

That's the word on Nickelodeon's modus operandi for TMNT.

CyberCubed 10-22-2009 12:38 PM

Not a surprise. Looks like the fans who wanted the return of Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady will finally get their wish.

Who knows. I hope the TV series can at least be the same tone as the 2k3 show. Meh.

plastroncafe 10-22-2009 12:41 PM

My last remaining hope is that they do something about the racist and sexist overtones in the original toon.

The Stryker 10-22-2009 12:44 PM

What the hell?

Vegita-San 10-22-2009 12:47 PM

Holy ****.

I guess it REALLY isn't a surprsie....but an updated slightly darker old toon with old va's? Can my dream really come true?

Where can I send my CG models? I want to put those thing to good use!

Buffy 10-22-2009 12:49 PM

Could be interesting, especially if the toon gets a darker tone. Where did you read/hear this Andrew?

Jester 10-22-2009 12:51 PM

A TMNT show in the vein of the Archie comics would be awesome...but I'm biased. :D

I'd be all for that...kind of a happy medium between the 80's and 2k3.

Sure sounds like it.

That only leaves one thing to do, at this point...

No surprise really, Nick didn't buy TMNT without wanting to use the 80's characters (there really isn't any worthwhile story elements though), I can only pray the series maintains the tone of the 2k3 series or Avatar.

quick Question @ Andrew NDB

Where did you get this info from?
And what a "modus operandi", never heard of that word in the english class (I'm not from an english speaking Country ;))

ToTheNines 10-22-2009 01:10 PM

I think this is cool as sh*t for the cartoon... but it ain't how I envisioned the movie. I hope they're totally un-related.

Now that you mention it, this may very well mean a change in direction for the movie, the Mirage origin movie may be out the window.

It's a Latin expression. "Method of Operating," basically.

I'm not going to believe this, because I can't possibly imagine a movie studio in the year 2012 greenlighting a movie where a Japanese man is physically turned into a rat. I can't wrap my mind around that.

...

Then again, they did whitewash the entire cast of Avatar, except for the badguys, of course.

Ugh, now I'm all sick to my stomach again.

Oh man, If only.

Best two days ever.

Lieutenant Granitor 10-22-2009 01:20 PM

My dream came true :) FINALLY AFTER ALL THIS YEARS!!! Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, Rat King, Leatherhead, Slash, etc. This is SWEET!! "Zzzzz" lol

Kendamu 10-22-2009 01:26 PM

If going with the 1980s cartoon version of the Turtles for this new gig is even half as entertaining as "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" (a show I absolutely love) then I'm down with it. No point in throwing a fit. S'not the like Viacom would listen to me, anyway.

Cipher 10-22-2009 01:38 PM

I'm cool with this stuff. I've always been cool with this stuff.

As long as it doesn't become the sole face of the TMNT. That's why I still have major trepidations about the buyout. This is a fine idea for a cartoon, as long as there are other versions available in some way, shape or form. Even if it's just TPBs and whatnot.

Ah, thanks! Good to know ^_^

BtT:
I have to say, now after hearing it, I kinda love the idea bringing some old 80's TMNT Action back! I grew up with that toon!

Can't wait for more details!
