Does anyone know the origin of The Rat King because I've always wondered about this.

He originally appeared in the Mirage b/w comics. It was in the mini run call the "Tales of the TMNT", kinda during the time when they were younger.

I forget what made the Rat King who he was, but he was this crazy human who lived in an abandoned warehouse, and of course, befriended the rats.

I need to reread that comic when I get home before I get any further. But when the cartoon introduced him, I think they built more into his character to make him even more memorable.

where can you get that mini-run? is it hard to find?

HorseTechie 03-11-2002 01:59 PM

Well, I got this particular comic from ebay. Just do a search for Ninja Turtle comics, and then look through the hits that come up.

Some comic stores might also have em in the back issue boxes, if they happened to carry any of the old Mirages.

Cool. As i am sure everyone knows, i like young TMNT stuff. Stories, pics, anything.

HorseTechie 03-11-2002 02:36 PM

hehe... you'll prolly like the Ratking tale. Mike nearly gets 'eaten' by him. ;p

The Tales of the TMNT also introduce Leatherhead and Lord Savanti. There's also another one you'll really like, Machias, where Splinter helps this Japanese guy defeat a demon in his past.

*hopping up and down excitedly* ooh ooh I wanna see!!! Mike almost gets eaten?! Ratking mustve been pretty darn hungry to try and eat HIM!

I want SO much to get all these things, but i am dangerously low on money...

HorseTechie 03-11-2002 05:35 PM

yeah... *looks around the crooks and crannies* And now Laird's copyright police are watchin me like a hawk. *sai*

BTW.. the RatKing one is Tales #4. Not sure how many issues total are in the TMNT tales run though.

Machias Banshee 03-11-2002 05:37 PM

*whimper* i want to get it SO bad now! You said you can get them at Ebay?
