Kevin Eastman...
What has happened to him. I get the impression he is no longer involved with anything turtles, but I could have sworn that I saw him taking a group shot with the characters in THe NExt Mutation. Would anyone care care to shed light on this situation? I'd really appreciate it! :)

I'll Let The More Experienced answer the question.
Karpo care to step in? |

I guess I can try my best though.. I know that Eastman sold his share of the TMNT over to Peter Laird after The Next Mutation, wanting to do something Non-Turtle related, and he also grew out of his friendship with peter laird... So Im sure someone Like Karpo can come in and fill in what I missed |
hahah yeah karpo always has the scoop
|
I'm pretty sure Kevin Eastman is now working on the hardcore Heavy Metal site. But it's been a while since I've last checked. Acorrding to Peter, it's highly unlikely that he'll be working on any Turtles stuff anymore, but that's how life goes: people change and have to move on. :(

It be soundin' to ol' Leatherhead like they had temselve's a fight, I reckon it mustv'e taken somethin big to break up that duo.

Well I'm glad you're not mad! Hehe! :D

Kevin's no long associated with any of the new TMNT stuff that comes out (as mentioned, he sold his share to Peter a few years ago). He did this for a number of reasons, though mostly because he no longer had the time to oversee TMNT stuff. He lives in LA now, whereas TMNT headquarters is still in MA. He is also busy running Heavy Metal magazine. And he and Peter are not as close of friends as they used to be.
However, Kevin still embraces the TMNT as much as he ever has. At Comic-Con every year there's always a line of people waiting to talk to him, and more often than not it's Turtle talk. He's one of, if not the, nicest professional in the comic biz that I've met. |
Yeah I think the issue got covered. Yeah Laird owns the intellectual rights to the TMNT now. The last things Eastman did with the TMNT were Next mutation and a miniseries callled "Bodycount". And of course the artobiography.

Well like it' been said, the reason Eastman sold his share because there was so big distance, and his time went to Heavy metal.
|
well i heard, and i'm not sure if this is true, that eastman went a little nuts with his money and lost it all and he also married that stripper.
oh does anyone know the reason the mirage duo disbanded? |
It has been said above. The distance was too great, and He worked on heavy Metal. And it's true, He is married to a playboy Model... :D
|
I wish I got Playboy Channel. I miss Sex Court. I miss JUDGE JULIE!!! :D
|
Whoa... Hi Rose! :D Yeah.. she knows much more about Eastman than Karpo at this point, since she and a bunch of other fans see him every year in San Diego.
I think that frivolous spending nature of Eastman is just a rumor. I read in an internet article somewhere the Mirage downfall came from a bad accounting error... and too many other folks taking advantage of their geneorus offers to host their art. (then the artists didn't pay em back!) However, I do believe that Laird and Eastman have gone their separate ways now (much like Leo and Raph?) Eastman is like a serious party boy now... and I'm not kidding ya either! http://www.turtlequest.com/photos/images/cali23.jpg ...tis the first time I meet the guy, and he draws faces on his knees... :goofygri: |
Maybe she know the person better, But knowing history of an artist does not require meeting him.
|
:P
Oh well.. I guess you don't take to teasing too well. |
Heh, still you were probably right. Everyone who wants to know more about Eastman should buy the artobiography.
|
Eastman lost a fortune on Tundra, not Mirage. There were big articles about it in The Comics Journal years ago, which I stupidly got rid of. I think Kevin said he lost something like 7 million or 15 million dollars? I don't remember, but it was A LOT.
Wish I had saved those magazines now, they were interesting, and sad. He owns Heavy Metal magazine. He made a sequel to the "cult classic" first movie (which I don't like). I never saw the one Kevin did but the reviews I saw said it was lousy. It's too bad he and Laird split up, but it happens in the entertainment business all the time. People make a lot of money and then decide to go their own way. |
