Any know about this drawings from the original movie?

Hey guys,

this is a question that I have asked Peter Laird a while back but he wasn't sure so maybe someone here may know.

Do you guys remember the turtle sketches that April is doing of Leo and Don in the first movie when they are at that old house and raph is in the tub? Does anyone know who really drew that or who has that. I guess for me, that has always been something i really liked about the movie and always thought one of the artists had drawn it for the film. But according to Pete he didnt and mentioned it could have just been someone in the film. Has anyone ever seen it in real life or know about it? Thanks!

I watched the original film a few days ago with friends and wondered exactly the same thing...

Yea i always like those drawings, wasn't sure if the actress really drew them, would be cool!

Dejablue 12-29-2009 10:53 PM

It'd be cool if the actress actually drew them XD

Yeah I don't think anyone knows, at least not fans. Steve barron would, I imagine. To me, those would be the coolest props for a collector, outside of heads & whatnot.

Edit: This has given me a really cool idea. I'm going to recreate the sketches one day when I'm bored, then blot them with teabags & rub the hell out of em to get an aged look. I'll frame those motherf***ers!

Don't quote me, but I coulda sworn that I read/heard that Dooney did them.

Again, I'm not stating that as absolute fact.

It's not in the closing credits? I suppose somebody already looked and this is a pointless suggestion.

Of course it is, which is why my disappointment in people is so high right now.

Karen Steward seems to be a pretty good artist with a knack for capturing realism. Know if she's done any more TMNT work?

That would be a big no. There has yet to be a female artist or writer on any published TMNT works (excluding student work that was published in one of the Tales Vol. 2 issues, which was specified as being non-canon (although it was set in Vol. 4 and a million times better than the real Vol. 4)).

Who did the scroll on movie 3?

agliarept 01-05-2010 08:06 AM

SMH at my own damn question, dayum SMH all day to this one. hahaha thanks guys, obviously i never stuck around for the credits all these years haha.

Raph 01-05-2010 10:00 AM

agliarept 01-05-2010 11:14 AM

Hmm, that's a problem that ought to be remedied. Hopefully we'll see some breakout female talent working on TMNT somewhere down the line.

Mary Woodring done the colouring for Vol 2 issue 1, and I believe quite a few issues were lettered by a Mary Kelleher. Not to split hairs or anything, I know they aren't the penciller/inker/writer, but they are still females published in TMNT works. And painting and lettering is still art. (Anyone ever tried to letter by hand? That malarky be hard!)

Oh, I'm aware of that. And I believe April Fisher was a colorer in one of the old First graphic novels. But I was really just meaning pencillers and writers. I think (hope) people should know me well enough to know I don't shun any part of the creative process that goes into putting these things together. But coloring and lettering do not add to the TMNT creative canon to the level that it would make much difference whether a man or woman did the job.

I'd never think for one second that you'd shun anything along that lines, that's completely not what I was meaning. I thought that was what you meant, just pencillers & writers. Some folk mighta read your post and thought "What? No females have had a hand in TMNT comics?!" so I was just letting them in the know... :D

Doesn't appear so but here's her imdb.com profile:
