Ninja Turtles Mod

Howdy guys, I'm new to these forums, so I hope you'll excuse me if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I had just finished working on something that the Turtle Fans here might enjoy and wanted to share it.

I've been working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mini-mod based on the original cartoon! This is a mod for the greatest superhero game of all time, Freedom Force Vs. The Third Reich.

:EDIT: And it's done! My Ninja Turtles mod has been released in full! You'll find it here:
http://bentongrey.wordpress.com/turt...ht-with-honor/

This mod has 9, count them, 9 missions, which will take our half-shelled-heroes from their first encounter with the Foot Clan up to their discovery of a strange and sinister secret hidden below the streets of New York! Along the way you’ll take command of the green teens as they battle the deadly Foot Clan, face the mechanical menace of Baxter Stockman’s Mousers, struggle against the mutated might of Bebop and Rocksteady, and even cross blades with the mysterious Shredder!

Krang and Baxter aren’t featured as opponents in the campaign itself yet, but they are both included, and you can play as or against them in the Dangeroom if you want to test their metal!

This mod also features the first contribution to the FF community by newcomer Adam Winters. He has really increased the quality and comprehensiveness of this mod by creating three new voice packs with samples pulled from the original Turtles cartoon. He’s created packs for Splinter, April, and Shredder, bringing the memorable and excellent voice work of that classic show to life in Freedom Force, and bringing a lot more personality to their respective characters within the game.

We are also lucky enough to get some custom mission music from the multi-talented ow_tiobe_sb! Now we have some music made especially for the levels of this mod.

So, what are you waiting for? Take a walk down memory lane, and see if you can keep from smiling when you load this mod and hear a familiar song on the main menu. Take some time to remember why you loved the Turtles way back when, and why you should definitely still love them now!

I've been working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mini-mod based on the original cartoon! This is a one mission mod for the greatest superhero game of all time, Freedom Force Vs. The Third Reich. It is the beginning of a larger project that, I hope, will encompass a lot of the Turtles universe and characters. Join these four heroes on the half shell as they begin their adventures and face the deadly might of the once honorable Foot Clan!

Download the TMNT mod now!:

Check it out, and just try to keep from smiling when the main menu pulls up and the Turtle theme starts to play.:tgrin:

This is really cool... Now I just wish I had the game used with this mod...

Thanks! Well, the good thing about it is that the game is a few years old now. So...got five bucks?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/8890/

You could find it for less than that on eBay or Amazon, but shipping is a pain. :P

oldmanwinters 04-15-2010 11:00 AM

This looks amazing! I'll have to track this game down at one of the many used media stores I frequent!

My only complaint would be that you are using pictures of the 2007 movie turtles when the mod is based on the original cartoon.
EDIT: Oops, nevermind! Looks like they are pics of in-game models.

Candy Kappa 04-15-2010 11:07 AM

looks really cool, makes me want to continue my UT3 mod idea I had in my head

ToSte 04-15-2010 12:32 PM

wow, awesome job!

vincent27 04-16-2010 12:25 AM

It seems to be very awesome and very funny !:D
I love the screenshots especially Foot Clan one.
However, I get the TMNT file but I can't play...:(
What file must I open in order to play ?
Tell me, it makes me crazy, I can't wait :)

Ville Leskinen 04-16-2010 12:32 AM

You need to have the original game. Then add those files to the same folder. If you'll look what's previously posted, you'll find your answer there :)

oldmanwinters 04-16-2010 12:37 AM

I saw the extra screenshots on your site, man. I look forward to seeing more screencaps, characters (Shredder? April? Splinter?), and seeing how far you go with this!

Mutated Turtle 04-16-2010 12:55 AM

This looks epic! Oh,and: If I ever get around to using Halo:Custom Edition, are the mod skins for the TMNT useable for it?

vincent27 04-16-2010 01:23 AM

Thanks Ville Leskinen for your answer, I understand better.:)
I guess there is not a free version of this game, right ? :D

Nelson 04-16-2010 06:10 AM

It really looks great. Congratulations, BentonGrey, it must have been hard to accomplish.

I'd like to try it but I don't have a PC at the moment. :/

Alex 04-16-2010 08:22 AM

Wow! I'm definitely going to download this when I get home!

Candy Kappa 04-16-2010 04:27 PM

can't get it to work :(

BentonGrey 04-16-2010 05:31 PM

Thanks for all the interest and enthusiasm guys! I'm recruiting artists to create the characters I need to continue the story, and we're off to a good start. As a matter of fact, y'all might actually be able to help me out some. You see, I have the classic Turtles theme as the music that plays when you first start the game, but I could use some music for the missions themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be good for that type of thing? In the same vein, I would love to put together some TMNT voicepacks from the original series. Has anyone done any sampling from that show?

Sorry to hear that Kiwamu, why don't you give me some details about exactly what's going on, and I can almost certainly help you troubleshoot it.

Well, all I did was create the mod itself, write the dialog, create the characters, do the balancing, and so on, so it really wasn't too much. All the art assets were created by guys who are a lot more talented than I am.

Thanks! Definitely try to track it down, lots of cool stuff out the for it, in addition to my small efforts. Yeah, those portraits are just pics of the models themselves. I'd actually like to replace those with captures from the 'toon eventually, but I simply haven't gotten around to it.

Nope, no free version I'm afraid, but the one that is available to buy is an absolute steal at $5.00. I bought the game at full price, and it is, literally, some of the best money I've ever spent. ;) It's a fantastic game, and all of the mod content (and modability itself) makes it incredibly enduring and replayable.

Candy Kappa 04-17-2010 05:45 PM

think the issue is that I have it through steam, I've checked most links I could find about installing mods and nothing have worked, it's just starting the regulear game.

Okey doke, I have heard about that issue, but I can't remember anything definite. The main FF community is here: http://freedomreborn.net/simple/index.php

I'm sure someone there has figured this out, so I'll check on it.:tsmile:

:EDIT:

Okay, here is what one of the old guard of the FF community had to say about getting mods to work on Vista and XP with Steam:

Quote:

I just bought the freedom force pack (both games) for $6.47!!!
ok, I'm working on installing mods, and I'll report back when i've tested them.
Already I'ver found that FFVTTR uses the same save files and hero files, in the same locations as the original game.

Oh, there are already a few Freedom Force groups on Steam, I've just joined one called Freedom Force Online.

update:
OKAY!
So I've Intsalled FFX on both games and they both work well!
say it with me here: Sahhhhweeeet!
You can now play the Strangers on Vista!
I just tried and got flattened, and got to watch the great Devil Doll 101 cutscene.

However there are some changes you need to do to make the mods work.
for the most part in involves changing the directories for install and changing the links for shortcuts for the mods.

The destination folders should be:
:ff: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\freedom force
:ffvstr: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\freedom force vs. the 3rd reich
My guess is that changing the shortcuts for the mods is probably the biggest issue. If you're unfamiliar with how to do that, let me know and I'll post a quick how-to!

Candy Kappa 04-18-2010 04:16 PM

finally got it to work

Samhain 04-18-2010 06:40 PM

Looks awesome !

BentonGrey 04-27-2010 11:33 AM

So, I'm working on mission #2, and I was thinking that it might be cool to get some input from the Turtle fans here. I'm loosely following the first few TMNT episodes, and the first mission ends right after the rooftop battle of that Turtle Tracks, before they go into the Shredder's front company headquarters to rescue April. I'm debating what I want to do. I'm thinking that I might do an inside map where you have to dodge Foot Soldiers and traps to rescue April, or have the Turtles ambush some Foot Soldiers in the process of moving her through the city. I'd use the latter as a chance to go ahead and introduce Casey Jones. What do y'all think?
