Goodmorning NY city, the story of a Dutch TMNT in NY
Ha quite the title huh? Well the thing is. You all know I live in Holland, Rotterdam right? And that I'm a huge TMNT fan (whoaw big announcement :P)
Well this October, I want to go to New York, and also to the New York City ComiCon. It'll be my first trip to America ever and I'm very excited. I would like to keep this thread open to talk about it, to get ideas from people and tips about the Con and NY. I'll be meeting some TMNT artists and actors who will appear at the con, but I've also managed to meet up with some in NY. I wanna make this quite the memorable trip. So about some of the questions. -1- Who can confirm that NewArk airport is the closest to NYCC? -2- Who is also going to NYCC (I so wanna meet alot of Dromers) - Raph (that's me Rutger ;) ) - Powder (Dennis) - Archon Turtle (Stephan) - IveyAngelo (Michele) - agliarept -3- Any good cheap hotels around the con (I'm there Oct. 7 till 11) - All taken care of!! http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7680393_n.jpg |
New Amsterdam
New York was called "New Amsterdam" in the 17th century, and the Dutch came to Manhattan. The Netherlands was a great power. I think they at least should mention it in the "April Gets in Dutch" episode.

I'll ask my mom this evening where she stayed last time she was in New York. it was near times square. She was really happy with her room.
I do think NewArk airport is the best airport to use. |
awesome sounds like your going to have a great time.
yea im going to be at the con too, i will be at a table for a monster book im working on at the moment. i will def see you there. and yes, the Newark airport is the closest to the city. i work in Newark so i know for a fact that the train takes 10 min to get into the heart of the city. very very fast. |
Well thanks for the info guys, I knew about New Amsterdam, we learned that at school.
And Buffy, did you ask your mom about the Hotels? |
My mom said this about the hotel: name hotel : Portland Square Hotel, 132 W. 47 St. in Manhattan.
Not a fancy hotel, small rooms and friendly/helpfull staff. No breakfast but on the other side of the road is a small diner where you can get breakfast for a good price. You can book on this link: www.booking.com. Type in NY NY and the name of the hotel. Hope this helps. :) Edit: more info can be found here |

So except me, Powder and Agliarept! Who else is coming to the Con!! Raise you voices!!! |
Im going to NYCC for sure :D
|
As you've already said, I'll be there! A good 890 mile trip for me! ...Though I suppose thats nothing compared to that of Rutger!
|
Do any of you guys know if any turtle artist is going to be there ? not counting the Mirage crew
|
Hey Powder, shall we tell him ;)
Well I'm almost certain, that Kevin Eastman and Michael Dooney will be there. And voice actors: Scott Williams (Baxter) and Michael Sinterniklaas (Leonardo) |
Quote:
Michael Sinterniklaas I met in the New York Anime Festival , cool guy . I hope Kevin has something exclusive for NYCC , it seems like SDCC always gets the best things , just is'nt fair lol |
Was just able to confirm that I will be at NYCC again this year. See you there!
|

From the Port Authority bus station, walk east on 8th ave away from Times Square and Broadway. If you pass the New Yorker Hotel, you're going in the right direction. It should be near the end. The address is 154 in Chelsea. I don't think it's too far from the Javits Convention Center either.
I didn't go to Roy's when I was last in NYC, but I went to Famous Ray's/Amadeus also on 8th, in the other direction towards Broadway and Times Square. Damn good pizza. You can't get anything like that where I live. |
