The "Turtle Tips" PSAs

Well thanks to a certain User I found out that the Turtles once made several PSAs called Turtle Tips. Now I'm looking for some Informations about them because theres nothing on Wikipedia or Fansites!
My Questions are:
1.) How many "Turtle Tips" PSAs exist?
2.) When were they produced/aired?
3.) Where have they been shown (TV Channel)?
4.) Was there any VHS Release (official)?

Maybe some of the Hardcore Fans could help me out?

I'll have to do some research to find out about how many there were, but let me tell you what I know off the top of my head...

They were produced for the the premiere season of CBS's run in 1990. They were each approximately 1 minute in length. All the weekends that CBS aired two back-to-back episodes (which was most if not all years), they used one of these Turtle Tips as a bridge between them. They were never released on any publicly-recognized US VHS or DVD (NOTE: I'm just being specific, not suggesting there are bootlegs). The only place they were ever seen in the US was between eps of TMNT on Saturday mornings on CBS. So, personal video collections are the only guaranteed way to find them.

As for how many, I believe I read several years ago (probably when the 4kids show had just started) that there were only 12. Why would I bother comitting such a trivial detail to memory? Because it seemed ridiculous to me. CBS Season 4 = 26 eps. 2 per week = 13 weeks, not 12.

I counted 20 (excluding the live-action mirajuana PSA that was neither one of the Turtle Tips nor produced for CBS as I only ever saw it on NBC with the syndicated episodes).

LMAO at the Turtles thinking Shredder tearing down the South American rain forest.

These need to be released on DVD....

I've been able to find 21 Turtle Tips over the years. Not counting the mirajuana PSA.

Cool, thanks for posting the Turtle Tips clips. Some of them I remember practically word for word and others I'd totally forgotten about. I agree that it would be nice to see them on DVD as a bonus feature.

On my Research about the Turtle Tips PSAs I found out today that some of them were actually dubbed and shown on german Television at the End of some Season 7 (not European Vacation Side Season) Episodes.

Were there other Dubbed Versions of the TT PSAs?

I remember the Turtle Tip on cutting up plastic six pack holders. To this day, years later, I've always made sure to do that because of that clip, lol.

And there's the one about the importance of trees. Forget Al Gore, if Donatello believes in global warming, that's good enough for me! ; )

Don't know if it's been posted here already but I remember watching a couple of years ago on YouTube a video where Donatello told two kids not to play with baloons outside since they could reach the electricity posts or something like that and he advised that it would be better to play with baloons indoors. WTF nowadays you can't even play with baloons outside?

Lol, well you know, it was something simple, something you could do in your own home, no big deal. I mean watched Captain Planet a lot too, but I honestly can't remember any of their little tips at the end. I think it's great that the one that actually stuck with me was from the turtles. :tgrin:

Slightly different, but I do have memories of my teacher reading us a picture book, where the TMNT talk about enviornmental issues like the green house effect. Would like to find out if that was just my imagination, lol.

The point in that PSA was not to let the balloons fly away, thus Raphael recommended the "better safe than sorry" policy of playing indoors. Ironically, he became a hypocrite at the end of the spot:

Hilarious!

wow these are cool. they should be put together on a dvd or made as extras perhaps when the last two seasons of the OT are released

redsai4lex 06-02-2013 08:08 PM

These are awesome! To this day, I've always cut apart those plastic rings because of that message I remember. :tgrin:

I love the drug one, " I'm not a Chicken, You're a Turkey!" Easily the best line in history.

BubblyShell22 06-03-2013 06:35 AM

Yep, I remember the marijuana one and a few of those others. They definitely should be released on DVD.
