Why were there two different alien Turtle planets in the original show?

There was the, "Planet of the Turtles" which had those two wrestler Turtles join Shredder/Krang for an episode. That ep also had Don visit their planet and had that Turtle salesman.

Then there is of course, "Planet of the Turtleoids" which is where Kerma is from, and had two appearances in the show.

Why did they do two different alien Turtle planets? Do you think it was just a re-used plot idea that they wanted to expand a second time, since the Turtleoid planet came after the original episode with the wreslters.

I guess for the same reason that they used the baby turtles thing twice, and the fear ray thing twice.

or the same reason alot was used more than one. heck look at "Night of the Rogues"

PLANET OF, RETURN TO and ESCAPE FROM: Those were the three.

I'd assume so. After the first 65 eps of the syndicated series were premiered, that's when CBS started their run. CBS had more quality control, but the syndicated stuff had a few more eps in the works, "PLANET OF THE TURTLES" being one of them. So, I don't know if it was a case of CBS thinking that ep would never be released (as 65 eps is the typical syndication package) or if CBS was just so entirely confident that they could do that concept better. Either way, they DID do that concept better IMO.

Pardon me for asking, but... in what way was that a reused plot? :-?

How is that a re-used plot? Those were recurring villains of the show.

not all of them. Chromedome, and a few others were not. only Leatherhead and the Rat King were recurring

Well, that was Tempestra's second and final appearance, but still... We're talking about recycled plot devices, not just things that only showed up twice in the series.

Not to mention Scumbug and Anthrax have never appeared in the show before.

The first one was an ordinary episode, the second was more a special split up into two episodes. As said, it was not the only re-used plot (shrinking was used a lot too, just with different stories). And how often didn't they re-use Bebop and Rocksteady breaking into power stations, looking for Technodrome fuel?

Interesting question. I never really thought about that. To be honest, I don't even remember this in the shows.. lol I definitely have to "re-watch" the episodes through
