Why didn't they ever show a flashback of how Shredder and Krang met?
 

I always assumed Krang crash-landed on his spaceship after being banished from Dimension X, and landed somewhere in Japan where Shredder was originally in charge of the Foot Clan.

Krang probably impressed Shredder with his knowledge of alien weapons and such, and probably formed an alliance. But this was never made clear:

- Why did Shredder relocate to NYC?

- How did the Technodrome get to Earth? In Season 8 we find out Berserko helped design the Technodrome, but was it transported from Dimension X to Earth? Or was it originally built on Earth?

- How did Krang convince Shredder to abandon the human Foot Clan and make a bunch of robot soldiers instead?

- How did Krang survive after his body was destroyed?

- Did Krang promise Shredder new worlds to conquer after taking over Earth?

Yeah, it's a shame we never got to know how they met. But as for your "Krang crashing on japan and meeting Shredder" theory: Shredder told the Turtles in the 2nd episode of Season 1 that he was only able to get advanced technology when he moved to NYC, so that's probably when he met Krang.

I guess the Technodrome moved from Dimention X to Earth by a transdimentional portal.

As for Shredder abandoning the Foot, Shredder alwas wanted to take over the world and it would be hard to take it over with just an army of Ninjas, with robotic ninjas they could mass produce them.

And remember in the first season Krang told Shredder that he gave him vast technological equipment in trade of Shredder building him a new body.

Well simple:
It's an 80s Cartoon and kids had imagination back then!

Not everything was suposed to be told, because the Writers may thought: It's a cartoon - The kids will make up their own stuff.

That is sth I like about 80s Cartoons, they give a brief back story and BAMM - the rest is up to you.
Centurions, G.I.Joe (Sunbow Cartoon) , Saber Rider, Galaxy Rangers, Bionic Six etc. did it and Fans made up their own story and often had discussions.

Hell, even I had my own Story about Krang and Shredder met as well as how Krang got banished and lost his body (which was to this date in my opinion never a biological Body but rather a andoid body in style of the Bubble-Walker he used later on)

Today everything has to be explained, no mysteries anymore...

Well TV Shows change and so do I...maybe I'm simply getting old...

Shredder relocated to NYC bc Splinter A.K.A Hamato Yoshi moved there and he followed him there to complete his vengence.

Its a big missed opportunity, I mean you assume Krang gave him the technology for him to conquer earth in exchange for him getting a body this is also why he helped the turtles to further pressure shredder into finishing his body.. but yeah I guess thats how shows worked back then, theres plenty of other characters we never got any back stories from.

Technodrome
 

Yes. I always imagined Shredder meeting Krang after leaving Japan and moving to the USA. I also imagine the Technodrome, with Krang inside, being teleported from Dimension X to the Milky Way Galaxy, where it ended up in some underground cave deep below the USA.

I only recall Shredder calling Krang on his com "Krang, are you there?" and Krang replying "Where else should I be? Nightclubbing?!"

I watched that'n day before yesterday, in my marathon. I coulda named the ep for you yesterday, but they're so hard to keep separated in your memory. :ohwell: Actually, I shoulda posted the title yesterday when I read that and thought, "I wonder if he's talking about that one?" :roll: Too late now...

They had to meet in NYC...or maybe on the Sunset Strip. Those are the only two places where you could walk around looking like they do and not catch any heat.

They showed some human Foot soldiers in the Japan flashback, shouting "-Hands up" (since that's before Shredder and Krang met).

Good question, I can't recall an episode of how they actually met.. I guess its up for us to imagine!
