2) You get apps through the app store, and you pay for them with your Apple account, which is tied to a credit card. You can also use iTunes gift cards that are available is most retail stores. 3) Yes. |

Here's what you need to know about the iPad:
It's one of the most amazing things in the history of forever. You should totally get one. :) In all seriousness, I carry mine everywhere. I'm on it right now. I read books, comics, watch movies, surf the net, doodle, write, whatever. It's a laptop but cooler. The one catch is that it isn't 100% independent of other devices. You have to have a computer to hook it to for the big updates. But it's awesome. I can't imagine anyone NOT loving it. |
ok so if i get an Apple account, do i have to use a credit card for apps and/or games or can i just use iTunes gift cards?
and use iTunes on a computer to get stuff and transfer to the iPad or can i get everything on the iPad? |
What is so special about these iPads anyway? They're not that much different than laptops, except they don't fold up.

Oh yeah. $600 for something that looks good.

I honestly don't get the iCraze at all. Nearly all of the sh*tty apps and games you get on those things are entirely worthless time wasters and it costs a stupid amount of money for something they'll make obsolete in a year. Then the sheep just run out and buy the next one.
But whatever, let people do what they want. They can show me how they have an "amazing" app that allows their phone or iPod to do some such stupid thing that doesn't matter at all. I'll just show them this sweet app I have that keeps thousands of f*cking dollars in my bank account. |

1) iPads can only install apps from apples app store. Laptops you can install any software you want. 2) iPads do not support flash. Laptops support flash and many other plugins. 3) iPads can not be upgraded. Some laptops allow you to upgrade video in them. Most if not all laptops can have the hard drive and memory upgraded, allowing for growth. There are many many more differences. I know quite a few people who bought an iPad thinking it was a laptop replacement and they were very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, they are cool but very limited to what they can do at this point in time. If you don't do much on a computer, sure it may work great for you but if you are an advanced user or want to be able to more, than an iPad is not for you. -ms |

Sorry to bump an old thread...
My friend has a brand new ipad air (1st gen, never opened) he's trying to sell. He's willing to sell it to me for a good price, since I was thinking of using it for my classroom and personal use. I usually don't use Apple products (except for my ipod touch), but I figured I'd give the ipad a try, especially since I can get a good deal on one. Does anyone here have an ipad air or other ipad model? If so, how do you like it? Have you had any issues? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks! |
These ladies could help explain their experience with the iPad:
