Splinter's daughter

Anybody else think that Splinter's daughter will be Karai? I bet that after Splinter flees to New York, Oroku Saki will raise her in Japan as if she was his own.

Cowabunga Carl 04-17-2011 10:48 AM

I really don't want that to be the case. I would like Karai to be able to be her own character, not related to anyone. I think they should leave her as the head of the Japan Foot chapter. Bring her in after the Turtle's "defeat" Shredder.

I'm all down for Splinter/Yoshi having a daughter. There is nothing wrong with that for me. I would rather her be Mona Lisa, Venus, Lotus Blossum, or an original character. I think it would be fitting for Shredder and The Kraang to have mutated his daughter.

I'd welcome the return of Lotus Blossom, but I doubt Nick even knows who that is.

Just like in the comics? C'mon man, I love the comics too, but lets pull for some originality here.

That has less to do with Nick knowing about her, and more to do with the producers/writers knowing about her.

Cowabunga Carl 04-17-2011 11:44 AM

We have all ready seen her as the "daughter" of Shredder in 2k3. Adding the fact that she was Splinters daughter before he raised her wouldn't be that much more original. I just want to see something different then the 2k3 version of the character. Why not have her be how she was originaly writen. There is a lot of stories that haven't been told or couldn't because of the changes in the 2k3 version.

Jester 04-17-2011 01:08 PM

See...I can agree with Carl...and RiseAbove. I'd love for Saki to take Yoshi's daughter and raise her as his own...but I don't think she should be Karai. Make them 2 different characters. The Turtles could use more strong female characters.

And I don't...at all...want Yoshi's 5th child to be...well...a 5th turtle. NO VENUS!

Vernon 04-17-2011 01:21 PM

I agree with Mr. Carl.

Who here was complaining when the 2K3 series were approaching? "An animated series based off the comics? That's not original!"

Outside of the comics, we've yet to see Karai as originally depicted, I'd love to see comic-driven Karai in full body-moving form.

Comic book Rat King seemed to work in 2K3 series, haven't seen any complaints against him.

Cowabunga Carl 04-17-2011 01:28 PM

I guess my thing is that I just want a Shredder that is evil. There is no compasion or redeaming thing about him. And by having him raise a child, well there would have to be something there other then the heartless monster he is. I would like to see him for once be after revenge because of the death of his brother. That he has purged all emotion except hatred for Yoshi.

Splinter's daughter opens up new possibiltes I will admit. But could you imagine what it would be like if he finds out that she is alive. When they go and try to find her they find she was mutated too. Not only could he not protect her the first time but now he has failed a second time as well. It would add another layer to Splinter that he would have to deal with.

But we have never seen done this way outside of the comics!

I would LOVE to see someone actually put a strong, competent Karai into the storyline. Especially with them making April younger it would be a good way to have a interesting full grown woman in the storyline and I actually would like to see her be a adversary of sorts to the Shredder instead of sub-servant to him!

Like the Foot doesn't completely sanction Saki's activities or him working with the Kraang and they send Karai over to reign him in.

It's just personally Karai's character was one of my biggest disappointments about the 2K3 show. She is so amazing in the comic line and then they basically turned her into a "Ninja Princess" as Bishop so aptly called her.

I would prefer Splinter's daughter to be an original character if she is even alive. Considering they saw nothing about her at the Nick preview from what I remember people saying I think if she is introduced we are probably looking at another season 2 character at the earliest??

Jester 04-17-2011 01:37 PM

See, I disagree, Carl. It shows how evil Saki is that he'd take and corrupt Yoshi's daughter...and when he finds Yoshi alive, using her against him would be a glorious bit of revenge.

I see the series as Yoshi's attempt to redeem his daughter from the clutches of his evil enemy. It still plays similar to the way you see it Carl. Yoshi thought she was dead, only to find out she's alive and well....and working for her "father" the Shredder. Now he must try to save her from the Shredder in more than just the physical, but mental way.

BubblyShell22 04-17-2011 04:03 PM

That sort of storyline could work, but I'd rather see it be an original character than to have it be Karai.

Jester 04-17-2011 04:05 PM

Like I said, I think Yoshi's daughter ought NOT be Karai. Do the 4kids Karai as Hama-doe Jane and make Karai her Mirage self.

FearlessLeader 04-17-2011 04:09 PM

A part of me I have to admit kind of hopes Splinter's daughter has passed actually ( I remember in one of these threads we were going back and forth about if she was even alive)

I just think her death would tie Splinter even more strongly to the Turtles (he lost one family but has gained a second chance and won't allow anyone to hurt his children)

Jester 04-17-2011 04:13 PM

I can see that. That and if they did "redeem" her, as I'd like to think...how would she deal with her "brothers"?

Kali 04-17-2011 07:44 PM

I'm with the "Splinter's daughter and Karai should be different characters" camp. And I think there's a lot of potential with Shredder training Splinter's daughter, although depending on how they play the Saki/Yoshi rivalry, it could go lots of directions.

Has Shredder personally corrupted her or is she just another Foot ninja? Perhaps Karai trains the female ninja, and Splinter's daughter is one of them. If I was writing I'd have her loyal to Shredder, only to have him covertly use her as a pawn/hostage against Splinter. But, when all is revealed, she would probably feel betrayed by Splinter/Yoshi as well, believing he abandoned her, and then, in her eyes, replaced her with a new family. A story where Splinter would have to choose between saving her or the Turtles would be so much fun to play with.

And a small, very twisted part of me wants her to be married to Oroku Saki to amp up the creep factor but since this is on Nick I doubt they'd go in that direction.

k_lala 04-17-2011 07:55 PM

I hope she's a brand new character like how Hun was. Let Karai be Karai.

See I don't see her that old. But then again if she's a baby when Yoshi leaves Japan...maybe she'd be too young to be a ninja...Then again, I forget Saki was quite a bit younger than Yoshi...so...
*head explodes*

Half of me wants to see the Daughter alive, because Splinter having a full family before the turtles really interests me and for some reason I'd love to see her reaction to the turtles.

But the other half of me, where I'm with Fearless as he mentioned before, I'd love to see some sort of development for Splinter if his daughter happened to have passed away and giving him a strong sense of not letting something like that happen to the turtles.

There is way too many possibilities. That alone excites me.

And Leave Karai as Karai please.
Though it would be interesting if they brought her back, but not so....brain washed.

I think she has had a decent development in the 2k3 series, she can be even better if it's done right.
But less brain washed would be nice! LOL!
